- Hey, LJ, maybe you would like to load both the images and the text at some point today? I can apparently get one but not the other at any given time.
- I spent my commute this morning trying to figure out how to write a story involving Sokka/Katara/Zuko porn. This is what happens when I can't find the fic I want in a fandom, and the fic I do find features unintentional yet really powerful UST and no payoff! (er, I'm sure the author intended the Katara/Zuko parts; it was the Sokka/Katara and Sokka/Zuko bits that were also really UST-y but likely unintentional. But come on! they cradle Katara between them for warmth [especially hilarious considering that Zuko is a firebender]! There is inappropriate sibling nuzzling! And Sokka and Zuko exchange a lot of manly shoulder touches and compliments!)
- omg, the car service company just gave me a few minutes of utter panic. My boss was downstairs waiting for the car, which they said was here and she said was not here. They said he called but neither of us had a message from them. And then I was like, oh, fuck me, please tell me they didn't list it as picking up at Newark instead of dropping off there. But then the car pulled around and it was fine. But man, that just added to my grays.
- now that she's gone, I can do all my copying and collating without worrying that she's going to change anything. whew.
- as someone who doesn't technically consider herself in DCU fandom (shut up), I've sort of just been watching the panic and outrage on my tumblr dash regarding the apparent reboot coming in September with quizzical detachment. Because I totally understand why people are concerned, and given the stuff I've read about it, it seems like they might be getting rid of everything I am actually interested in reading about in their comics (though apparently both ♥Jaime Reyes♥ and Kate Kane are going to stick around - there's speculation that this is why Batwoman was pushed back to September), but since the only thing I (want to) give them money for on an ongoing basis is Tiny Titans, I don't really have a wallet to vote with.
I also have my doubts about how long something like this will stick, and also if they're trying to use Marvel's model (i.e., Ultimates), maybe they should have stolen it whole hog and just started a new, separate/parallel continuity so they could attract new (younger) readers and not alienate the readers they have. but what do I know? I already consider it all AU and consider my fic based on the animated universe anyway.
I also think it's hilarious that they talk about diversity in the pull quote but then somewhere else reveal that it's not actually diversity in terms of race/gender/sexual orientation but in terms of 'not just superhero comics.' (nb: I saw the quote linked on tumblr but can't source it from work.) If by "hilarious" you mean "sickening." Nice bait and switch there if it turns out to be true.
Possibly this is why I don't want to consider myself in the fandom. Too many shenanigans of the unfun kind.
- And now I must return to my copying and collating. Maybe I will eat lunch first, though.
