he grew up going to minor league games

Yesterday was just ugh. Let's pretend it never happened. Except for the part where my mother came home from the hospital. That part was good.

I also spent some time reading more Superman/Batman comics and wow, they are ridiculously married. Also, there was this one scene where they're having dinner with the Kents and Martha is like, "Eat your peas, Bruce," and his narration is all "My secret is safe here." and I'm like, "Oh, heart." Sadly, Lois wasn't there to complete the picture.

Speaking of whom, there was also a minicomic where Conner asks Clark "what would you do if you found out Bruce kissed Lois?" and I was like, "Um, Bruce slept with Lois before Clark did!" (according to the animated version anyway) and then it cut to Tim asking Dick if he should tell Kon he (Tim) had made out with Cassie, and Dick was like, "No. Also, I would never kiss Selina." I thought that was pretty hilarious. I guess it doesn't count when she kisses you, eh, Dick?

I guess the fannish five this week was about favorite fictional married couples? Here are five:

1. Eric & Tami Taylor (Friday Night Lights)
2. Peter and Elizabeth Burke (White Collar)
3. Wash and Zoe Washburn (Firefly)
4. Nick & Nora Charles (The Thin Man)
5. Jack Bristow & Irina Derevko (Alias)

There are others - Bianca and Alberto Reyes, Meg and Calvin O'Keefe, Clark and Lois Lane-Kent, Molly & Arthur Weasley, Ellie and Devon Woodcomb, Frank & Mary Pembleton - but I think that list is a good start.

I guess we'll continue the theme with today's poem:

Wedding Dress

I don't want to put my wedding
dress away. I look at its silk

embroidered bodice, and see
the wet green lawn, our guests,

my daughter in the bedroom mirror,
weaving the last flower into my hair.

I look at my cream-colored dress
as a window, still left open,

though time cannot pass through.
Those few hours-the getting ready,

ceremony in the woods, reception
on the lawn-is all it will ever have.

Imagine, "always" and "forever"
in our closet hanging.
