So in between writing up the minutes and putting together the agenda for our next board meeting, I am going to talk to you about Blue Beetle, because few things have made me as purely happy as reading this series has. I ( Read more... )

::makes a note to read Blue Beetle::

Vic, have you read Joss's Astonishing X-Men? Really fun and engaging and the art is easy to follow.

The art may be easy to follow, but I found the story hard to follow since it was so dependent on Grant Morrison's New X-Men run, which I hadn't read. I had to consult Wikipedia, and then I got Wikispoiled. That may have only been the second trade, though. The others are pretty good.

Huh! I don't think I'd read any of the Grant Morrison New X-Men yet when I read Astonishing and I didn't have that trouble.

But I just read The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite due to a rec from you, and I DID find that story hard to follow. Some of the art, too. But I liked it, even though it confuzzled me in places.

Dallas is even crazier! I love UA. Gerard Way is clearly a huge Grant Morrison fan.

Hee, this is made even clearer by the fact that he had Grant Morrison appear in the last two MCR videos and he kind of looks like wants to have sex with him a lot.

I highly recommend it.

I haven't, mostly because I still have mixed feelings towards the X-Men after being in movieverse fandom. I've thought about it, though. Maybe someday.

You should totally read it. For me, it's some of the most satisfying, witty writing he's done. 100x better than that stupid Dr. Horrible.
