I said last night I wasn't going to share my thoughts on this particular go-round of yuletide wank, because taglines are way more fun, but there are a couple of things that kind of rub me the wrong way

Er, because I didn't know it was a real place? (says the English girl). There are some scans from it here. He became the curator for a bit and got lots of meta superheroes to design and build his secret lair for him in a weekend or something.
Heh. Not only is it a real place, the story Dick tells in the scans about buying up the land across the river is true! Except that it was the Rockefellers.
You know, I have less difficulty imagining a superhero lair there than I do the idea that Bruce just bought him a job as a curator.
That explains why that whole exchange seemed so random. It didn't seem to have much relevence to the plot but makes more sense if it actually happened.
I work in a museum and I was also baffled by Bruce buying him the job, and also that Dick would let him do it. He's worked hard for his previous jobs and people in that sort of job usually have worked in curation for years and/or have several higher degrees. I guess if it was "For The Mission"...

Yes. I mean, tour guide, fundraiser, security guard, gift shop proprietor - I would buy any of those, but curator is kind of a job that requires a lot of specialized training.
Though now I'm imagining Dick wearing a tweedy blazer and lecturing on medieval architecture and getting the same response as Indiana Jones from his students. possibly this made me just snicker out loud in glee at my desk.
