keep the weapons down, keep the wounded safe

This is an unpopular opinion, or perhaps just a minority one, but I think the idea of spoilers - and spoiler-cutting - for sporting events is hilarious. Especially when it's something as huge and widespread as the Olympics, and especially considering how the coverage is done in the US, at least, where they're doing all sorts of ridiculous time-shifting and tape-delaying, and though I haven't watched any of the coverage this year, in years past they've jumped from one event to another willy-nilly, forcing you to stick around to see the results of each instead of showing them all the way through, when you can just turn on ESPN or MSNBC and read the ticker.

I'm sure people have their reasons, but it's just antithetical to the way I engage with sports.

Work was busy today. Boss 1 is off for a conference in Europe and Boss 2 is still on vacation, so next week should be interesting, considering the board meeting is the week after. Oy.

All that on top of the family drama this week encouraged me to text fleurdeleo to meet me at the bar after work this evening. I was like, "I could use a drink or three" and a drink or three I had. It was good. It was definitely the kind of week that needed to be capped off with multiple glasses of purple, raspberry flavored beer, and really fantastic nachos.

Then I came home to discover that UPS had already stopped by to pick up my defective cabinet, but it is still lying on my kitchen floor in the untaped-up box, so hopefully they really do come back on Monday, and hopefully nobody steals the thing before they arrive to pick it up. I still think it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, leaving it outside for them, but I'ma do what I'm told. Once it's gone, I'll order the one that comes assembled, and hopefully finally be able to organize things in my kitchen so that I don't get bonked in the head whenever I open up a cabinet to get out a spoon.

In other news, my song of the moment is Antebellum by Vienna Teng. I think it might be a s5 Sam and Dean song.
