throws light on the walls and the scars

I am feeling very blah and mid-winter blues-ish lately. I just want to pull the covers over my head and sleep. Even though this week we're having a stretch of sunny, not too cold (in the 40s!) weather.

To help combat that, I'm going to take prompts for halfamoon. This year I'm going to try to write a ficlet for all fourteen days.

To get in on this action, comment with a female character or f/f or f/m pairing in a fandom I'm familiar with (and if I don't like the pairing or the character, I might ask you for something else), along with a prompt of some sort - a phrase, an emotion, some keywords, a quote, a song, a picture. Whatever. Then for the first two weeks of February, I'll try to post a ficlet each day. (I make no guarantees that all prompts will be written - I'm just going to pick the ones that ping, and if there are more than 14, we'll see what happens.)

That TV meme that's making the rounds:

Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice

Supernatural; Firefly; Sports Night; Middleman

Name a (current) show you can't miss

Supernatural; Friday Night Lights; Criminal Minds; White Collar; Leverage

Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show

Nathan Fillion, Katee Sackhoff. I would have said Andre Braugher, except that I'm not watching Men of a Certain Age, so I'm not sure if that's true.

Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show

Simon Baker. Michael Weatherly.

Name a show you can, and do, quote from

Sports Night. The West Wing. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Homicide.

Name a show you like that no one else enjoys:

Huh. I don't think there are any.

Name a TV show which you've been known to sing the theme song

Big Bang Theory

Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch

Friday Night Lights

Name a TV series you own

If we're talking all the episodes: Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The West Wing, Sports Night, Homicide: Life on the Street, The Wire

What is your favourite episode of your favourite series?

This changes frequently! Night of the Dead Living, Homicide, or Becoming 2, BtVS. Or Thespis, Sports Night. In Excelsis Deo or Celestial Navigation, West Wing. Out of Gas or Ariel, Firefly. Nightshifter or Mystery Spot, Supernatural. I know there should be a BSG episode on here, but I'm bad with titles on that show. Hmm...

A show you mean to watch, but you just haven't gotten around to yet

Mad Men

Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?

Yes.

Name a show you aren't interested in watching, not in the least

American Idol. Survivor. Two and a Half Men.

Name a show that's made you cry multiple times

Friday Night Lights. The West Wing.

Oldest TV show you like?

The Honeymooners. Or maybe I Love Lucy. Whichever's older.

Newest TV show you like?

White Collar

What do you eat when you watch TV?

Whatever's handy. Though I try not to eat during Bones anymore.

How often do you watch TV?

Every day.

Do you have a favorite talk show?

No.

What's the last TV show you watched?

Leverage, last night.

What's your favourite/preferred genre of TV?

I like procedurals and comedic dramas and dramatic dramas.

What's your least favourite genre of TV?

Reality shows.

What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?

The Brady Bunch? Dom and I spent a lot of time watching a lot of TV as kids. Even when we weren't supposed. Especially when we weren't supposed to. There was a time we could identify the episode of Brady Bunch from the opening shot of the house.

In terms of first run stuff, maybe Moonlighting? Definitely Wiseguy, China Beach, and Thirtysomething. Maybe even LA Law.

What TV show do you wish you never watched?

Uh. There are shows I wish I'd stopped watching before they went bad, but I can't remember sitting through anything that would make me completely wish I never watched it. I'm very good at turning the TV off.

What's the weirdest show you enjoyed?

Max Headroom? Twin Peaks?

What TV show scared you the most?

The X-Files. These days, Criminal Minds has been great at being exceptionally creepy.

What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched?

Overall? Probably Frasier.

Which do you think is the best TV series ever made?

For network TV: Homicide: Life on the Street (even with its less than stellar seasons 6 and 7). For cable TV: The Wire.

Oddly enough, there was no question about what upcoming new show I'm most looking forward to, and the answer to that would be Treme, the new David Simon show on HBO that's set in post-Katrina New Orleans and stars Wendell Pierce (Bunk!), Khandi Alexander (Catherine from NewsRadio!), Melissa Leo (Kay Howard!), Clarke Peters (Lester!), and John Goodman (John Goodman! er, I mean, Dan Connor!). Look at that cast! Plus, the production and writing team is a roll call of HLotS and Wire people, so I am even more excited.

I'm also excited that Burn Notice comes back tonight! With Tyne Daly as a guest star! Cagney & Lacey reunion! Even though I never really watched Cagney & Lacey, I am excited about it!

And of course, I'm grudgingly excited about tonight's new SPN. And tonight looks like it could be Sam-centric, though I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I still love Sam and Dean! It's just a lot of the other stuff that gets me down. Sigh.
