the zombie sensation that's sweeping the nation (or my flist, anyway):
You are in a mall when the zombies attack. You have:
1. one weapon.
2. one song blasting on the speakers.
3. one famous person to fight alongside you.
* Weapon can be real or fictional; you may assume endless ammo if applicable. Person can be real or fictional.
1. I think I will emulate
maveness and go with Vera, Jayne Cobb's favorite gun.
2. Where Eagles Dare by the Misfits (alternately, Back in Black by AC/DC)
3. Zoe Washburne (alternately, Dean Winchester)
You know, 3 is the hardest to answer, because, do you pick a Slayer? A terminator? A Cylon? River? Johnny Storm? Or do you pick someone you know is just going to do the freaking job and get you out alive?
Obviously, I went with that last choice. Zoe, because you know the job will get done with a minimum of fuss and bother, and you'll walk out alive at the end of it, but I am torn, because, hi, Dean. If I am stuck in a mall with icky zombies, I want to at least get laid before (and after) the fighting starts. Though possibly I should have chosen Alec. Hmm...

Last night,
vonnie_k had a poll about the best driving song ever, and that made me think, because my kneejerk reaction was to say "Born to Run," or possibly "Roadhouse Blues," but also, I think, "LA Woman." Definitely "Back in Black."
And then I was remembering some road trips in my early twenties, with "Evenflow" and "Wherever I May Roam" blaring from the speakers (imagine five girls in a tiny Saturn with the windows rolled down, stuck on the Jersey turnpike for three hours on a hot summer Friday night), and I remembered the tapes I made for those trips, and got to thinking.
A good road trip tape has a mix of hard rockin' classics (see above), some upbeat sing-along material ("Tiny Dancer" and "Sweet Child o'Mine", possibly "You Give Love a Bad Name" or "Pour Some Sugar On Me"; maybe some Motown), some mellower things ("Free Fallin'" or "Into the Mystic"), and maybe a couple of fun dance/party tracks ("It Takes Two" maybe, or "Groove Is in the Heart"; in the early 90s, it was likely "Gonna Make You Sweat" or "Good Vibrations" or "Now That We Found Love" would take this place, but some early Madonna might work, or some New Order, or some Beasties), and one or two classics from the '70s like "Don't Leave Me This Way" or "Mr. Big Stuff" or "Stayin' Alive." Maybe the Stones version of "Ain't Too Proud to Beg." Being me, I'd probably throw some Smiths on there - "Big Mouth Strikes Again" or "Sweet and Tender Hooligan," maybe - or maybe some Yaz ("Didn't I Bring Your Love Down" probably). And obviously, "Where Eagles Dare."
Hmm...
Possibly I will have to put a mix together and upload it tonight when I get home.
What would you put on your ultimate road trip tape mix? Feel free to upload. *g*
