Oh, man. Peter Pan is an all-time favorite, and just... *flaps hands* I love the Dean=Peter-Sam=Wendy thing you've done here. My brain is reeling from the rightness of all this.
And seriously, Dean totally has Peter Pan's teeth. There's a description of them in the book--Mrs. Darling (I think) comparing them to a string of pearls--which I totally stole for a description of Dean because the very first time I saw him smile my brain went "OMG HE HAS PETER PAN'S TEETH!"
Wow. I am punchy tonight. Unfortunate after-effect of 14 hours of working on this stupid paper that's due Thursday.
Oy! I meant to comment on that down below. BAD TYGS!! Noo cookie for me. :(
Yes! I did. I loved the Peter Pan angle and how Sam just goes to it, and Sam babbling about burial rituals and... Guh. Oh, Sam. Oh, DEAN!
"Sam's sewn Dean up before, more times than he'd like to remember, and right now, Dean's not bleeding, the car's not moving, and nothing is trying to kill them, so his hands and heart are steady."
I think what makes this fic for me is the utter whimsy of it; detaching shadows and sewing them back on, call-backs to Peter Pan (Sam as Wendy!), hair ruffling and the brothers' shadows laughing together.
Beautiful and wonderful and chest-tight-sweet, all at once.
