fleurdeleo and I went out to dinner at the new Big Daddy's diner in my neighborhood, and it took them nearly forty minutes to bring me my black and white shake for dessert. Wait staff (often including bartenders) hate me. This is one of the truisms of my life.

There hasn't been much talk about this that I've seen, and this isn't an official announcement, but I wanted to let you know that the plan is to open sign-ups for Remix 6 tomorrow (it is this descent into the pit that had me diving for the comfort of TWW). There have been some significant changes, one of which I am sure is going to make some people unhappy, but after some problems last year, it seemed best to do it this way. This year, in order to participate, remixers will have to have written their required five, 500 word stories in (at least) one of 43 qualifying fandoms (see below), and will also have to offer to write in one of them (and at least one in which they've already written). In past years, I've bent over backwards to accommodate fans who write in tiny fandoms and sign up in tiny numbers, and last year there were problems getting pinch hitters in those tiny fandoms, and, well, this isn't yuletide. It doesn't mean that people can't remix stories in smaller or more obscure fandoms, if people who've also written in the larger fandoms have them - no one is bound to write in the fandoms they sign up for, if something else catches their fancy, but this will make my job as the mod easier (I hope).
We're going with the LJ sockpuppet method we used last year, because I thought it worked really well, though I am still trying to figure out the tagging situation, since there is a limit on the number of tags allowed.
The sign-up form is new, also, and should make life a lot easier for me, which hopefully means an easier remix for all of you.
Please hold any questions for tomorrow, when the official announcement and sign-up form go live; I won't be answering anything Remix-related in the comments of this post.
