i think i told that kid to get our daughter in the backseat of a car

Well, I had planned on writing, but that didn't go well, and I will spare you the long emo post about how much I suck at it.

Instead I ended up watching a handful of Friday Night Lights episodes. Oh, show... how do I love thee?

Coach Taylor is SO AWESOME. I can't even. I just. I don't have the words for how much I love him. For how fabulous he is, all cranky and put-upon and in love with his wife, who is also AWESOME BEYOND WORDS.

In rewatching, I am reminded that I still do not care all that much about Jason/Lyla (or Lyla/Tim) or the whole Voodoo storyline, which, wtf was that, anyway?

But watching Coach Taylor deal with Matt and Smash and Tim, watching him make those boys run up that hill in the pouring rain, telling Tim to let himself off the hook, telling Matt that he sees something in him his own father doesn't... just... *loves* I love when he tries to apologize to Tami with "I'm sorry you're angry," she calls him on the bullshit of that, and how he doesn't actually ever apologize, but he does acknowledge that he was wrong about her job not being hard. And then he backs her into a wall and kisses the hell out of her. God.

And Matt Saracen, who knows he's about to get his ass kicked (and not undeservedly for what he did to that kid's car), making a joke and throwing the first punch before he gets knocked to the ground. The way he takes care of Grandma Saracen. *hearts* Such a good kid.

And Tyra! Tyra going to see Jason to apologize for Tim being an ass and not visiting. I love the idea of Jason/Tyra in the future, away from Dillon and the town that's shaped them, where he was the golden boy and she was the outcast.

I am so hopeful for Tyra in upcoming episodes, now that Tami has taken her under her wing.

I love how this show has taken characters like Tyra and Tim and Matt and Julie and made them SO REAL instead of the stereotypes they could have been.

Here's an article - spoiler-free - about how the show has struggled to find viewers, and what NBC is doing to try and change that: Can This TV Show Be Saved?

And here, have a song: Come Back by Pearl Jam, which was used over the scene where Lyla breaks down in Tim's arms on the side of the road in "Wind Sprints."

In other news, I have not heard from anyone regarding my ceiling troubles, of course. Sigh. Also, I got bit by something and it is so itchy I am about to claw my arm off. Grrr...
