This brings me to the question of how good Dean would actually be in a life of crime. Because, sharking aside, he kind of sucks at conning people, generally speaking. I mean, no one ever buys his cover stories. Which is incredibly adorable, but not terribly sneaky. Hee.
Sam, on the other hand... the puppy dog eyes would fool everyone.
I think Dean would suck at the long con. Or any kind of con that had to last more than ten minutes, really. He'd be good for sharking and for b&e and as a wheelman, but he doesn't have the ...patience to really run a con. Or the acting skill.
Someone in my comments once said that Dean is a situational liar, and he gets by on what both he and his mark know is BS, but he's charming enough to make it work over a short period of time.
Sam, otoh... Sam inhabits whatever role he's playing, he makes the lie his life, and well, he's already run the long con, though I don't think he'd see it that way, on Jess and all his friends at Stanford.
Dean could totally be the wheelman. He would be perfect at that.
The Malloys could be unavailable, and Rusty would be like, "Well, I know this guy and his brother is..."
And Danny would sigh long-sufferingly, and Dean and Sam would show up in the Impala, which would impress him, and then Linus would be upset that Sam is the new prodigy and everyone would be like, "but this means you're not the Fucking New Guy anymore Linus" and you'd think that would make him happy, but it doesn't, 'cause he's used to being the youngest and the bestest and now someone else is stealing his thunder...

OK, seriously, I'm not much for crossovers, but someone needs to write that fic.
