“Rod, you’re always hungry.”
“Doesn’t mean I can’t say it.”
“Oh shut up.”
“Fine.”
Rodolphus left his brother where he sat on the couch and wandered over to sit by Alecto who was currently inspecting her nails.
“Alecto, I’m hungry.”
“I have no sympathy nor any food. Go and bother someone else.”
“Fine.”
He frowned at Carrow but moved on. This time to Lucius who was reading in the armchair beside the fire. He did not look up from his reading.
“I’m -”
“I heard.”
“Do -”
“No.”
Rodolphus glared at him and moved on again. This time he spotted Bellatrix who was just coming down the stairs.
“I’m -”
“Yes, I know. I heard.”
“Do -”
“Yes, actually.”
“Really?”
Bellatrix pulled out a packet of cockroach clusters and offered them to Rodolphus. He grinned and took one. Just before it reached his mouth he heard sniggering and saw the look on Bella’s face. He dropped it back in the packet.
“Thanks, but I don’t feel like being poisoned today.”
Bella sighed and smiled sweetly.
“Not even if it’d make me happy?” she asked hopefully.
“Not even if it’d make you happy,” he confirmed with the narrowing of his eyes.
“Rodolphus Lestrange, you’re no fun.”
“Just out of interest, what was in it?”
“Sleeping draught.”
“Oh.”
“And something that would make your face swell up with a balloon.”
“I thought there might be.”
“Indeed.”
Rodolphus sighed as Bellatrix continued walking. He was going to have to leave the common room for food at this rate.
