There was giggling.
“Night, Evan,” a shrill voice said. There was more giggling as Evan and his female friend began kissing.
Rodolphus raised an questioning eyebrow at his brother from where he sat on the stairs. Rabastan, who was a few steps higher shrugged and said, “I’m good just so long as it isn’t Evan doing the giggling.”
“That’d be a disturbing first,” Rod agreed.
“So I’ll see you tomorrow, right?” Evan continued, a smile so clear in his voice.
“Of course. Night night.”
“Good night.”
The brothers heard Evan kiss whoever it was on the cheek. Rabastan rolled his eyes and then stood, wandering down the stairs calmly as they heard the common room door close behind Evan. His brother wasn’t far behind.
“Who was that?” Rabastan asked with a hint of amusement in his voice.
“Evening, boys,” he replied, a smile creeping onto his face and his eyebrow arching.
“Doesn’t answer the question,” Rod pointed out with a grin.
“It was a girl,” Rosier stated simply.
“With the name of?” Rabastan pressed.
“I forget.”
“Only because she’s the fourth girl this fortnight!” Rod snorted.
“Indeed, and you’re only asking because you’re jealous, correct?” Evan inquired.
“No.”
“Indeed.”
Evan looked from Lestrange to Lestrange, the small smile still on his face.
“Well, I’m heading off to bed,” he announced, “Good evening.”
A few minutes later there was two left.
“Git,” Rodolphus decided.
“But lucky,” Rabastan agreed.
“Lucky git.”
“Shut up, Rod.”
“You’re a git too.”
“I know.”
“Fine.”
“Good night.”
“Night.”
And then there was none.
