“What the…? How the hell is she doing this?”
There was zapping and pinging sounds and then on Albus’ screen a large message appeared informing him of a game over. Now there was only Scorpius, Atia and Louis left in the game; Helena had been too amused by watching Albus get his knickers in a twist to join in. Scorpius was doing quite well, going steadily, not putting himself in the way of too many alien ships. Louis, the one who owned the game and prided himself at being the best, was near red in the face, astounded that Atia was winning so effortlessly.
Ping. Louis lost a life.
“Louis, you’re doing it wrong, here let me show you.”
Atia quite happily put her controller down, not fazed at all by the oncoming army of Galaticans or something, and plucked Louis’ straight out of his hands. With a few fast clicks of various buttons, she had raised his score by about one hundred points - still five hundred points behind herself of course.
“Right, Scorpius? I propose we make a pact. Us versus her? What do you reckon?”
Scorpius gave a noncommittal shrug and grunt. Louis raced his spacecraft over to help out Scorpius. A moment later Scorpius was safe from the alien onslaught but Louis was surrounded.
“Now would be a really good time for you to honour the pact, mate,” Louis declared.
Scorpius inhaled and sighed. “Well, I could. But then I would end up in the same predicament that you are in now, wouldn’t I? I think I’ll just go ahead and survive on my own, thanks.”
Helena half snorted. “You can tell you’re part Slytherin,” she laughed.
“Scorpius, you git!” Were Louis’ last words as he was engulfed by lasers.
Now there was only Scorpius and Atia left. There was ninety seconds left on the clock and Atia was still quite happily zapping her way to victory. Scorpius began to take more daring actions, trying to get enemy ships to follow him and get distracted with attacking Atia instead. The corner of Atia’s mouth twitched upwards and she raised her eyebrow slightly. She began to manoeuvre about the playing field in quick, darting movements. She flew close to Scorpius and then just as all the ships caught up with her whisked away again, leaving Scorpius surrounded. The others watched as his health went down and soon dissolved into a puff of smoke.
Atia nodded triumphantly and put her controller back where she got it from.
Scorpius was glowering a little. Under his breath, he muttered, “Stupid Muggle games.”
