007 | 3. Drabble Prompt - Guilty

May 30, 2012 17:10

(ooc: Does not apply to any existing Clint Barton muses.)

It’s not a feeling she’s used to. She’s made peace with the demons and accepts the blood on her hands. What’s done is done. There is no going back. No changing the past. The only thing she can do is make sure that the second chance she was given counts. That Barton pulling her back from the darkness is worth it. That he’s proud of her and that the man she’s come to call ‘partner’ doesn’t regret making a different choice that day.

Only now she can’t help but look at him and hate him for betraying her secrets to Loki. He spilled her guts, cut her open for the god of mischief to crawl his way inside and make her loathe the person she was. The person she still is.

She looks at him and wants to make him suffer for revealing the things she’d told him in confidence. She looks at him and wants him to feel guilty for tainting what they had. Have. She looks at him, and she’s the one that feels guilty for even doubting him. For all that was done, she knows it wasn’t him. She knows what it is to be unmade and do these things you can’t take back.

She knows what it is to have blood that can’t be removed. To need a second chance and a way to redeem yourself. So she doesn’t hate him. She doesn’t get angry with him. She just stands by his side and waits for the day she can pay back her debt.
