Katrina originally came out of the line in the finale that says "We'll make the son of Frankenstein, the sequel's coming soon". And one can only imagine Frederick and Inga had kids. So why not?
But then I shelved her journal and forgot about her until Gravestone Academy came out and then...well...it was all too perfect. And come on...Frederick should totally teach there. She'd DIE.
