I have to say I sort of love whatever weird universe we've created. I'm also totally willing to go a shipping route if it ends up there?

yesyesyes, i am loving our crossover! shipping is totally in the cards so long as it happens organically. i think i had newt assume river was in her teens in an earlier thread, but that can be retconned?

ooh, have you seen uprising yet? it would be fun to run through an au of canon events and exploring his character shift/trauma with river in the sequel could make for interesting cr (surprise surprise i'm a glutton for angst)

She's 18 at the end of the Serenity movie, but since this AU takes place post-Serenity (by my decree just now), she could be in her 20s?

Like, she and Simon traveled with the Serenity crew and then, you know. Fucking Kaijus. Jayne probably joined up to fight monsters, and you know Mal and Zoe are drift compatible. Kaylee tried to work on building the wall, sweet child. Inara is doing her own thing somewhere.

And so River and Simon settled in at the Hong Kong shatterdome because the world is weird and Simon felt that River needed some sort of stability? At least staying in one place has the illusion of stability.

We can totally play through canon events!! I haven't seen Uprising yet but I keep meaning to so that's a good excuse for me to watch :)
