I have two specific ideas for Ben:
The one that got away - high school girlfriend, the one that he always thought was the love of his life. While he stayed at home to help out the family after the death of his father, she went off to college and excelled. They would have tried to make it last, but he would have begun believing that he was just going to drag her down, so he ended things before too long. Maybe she comes back into town now that he's a success, a local boy who's made it, maybe just to catch up, maybe for more, and they reconnect.
Or, a resident in one of the houses that he's renovated who keeps finding reasons to call and ask for assistance with this or that as a way of flirting.
Other than those two ideas, anyone that would like to interact with him is more than welcome to. :0)
