Waking up in Vegas
The AU idea I have in mind is set in -- you guessed it -- Las Vegas. Alice is still the same woman with serious commitment issues. She's just gotten out of a heavy relationship due to some trust issues and what better way to forget about it all than to go to Vegas. So Alice finds herself at the Happy Hearts Casino in Las Vegas.
While she's there, she catches the eye of a smooth-talking, dapper-hatted man named David. They hit it off. The tea drinks start flowing and the roulettes start spinning. He knows how to work the tables; he's good -- almost too good. It shows in his penthouse suite he brings her back to.
The things in between all of this are where it gets fuzzy for Alice. She wakes up the next morning in his hotel room (maybe even with a ring on her finger or a tattoo on her arm?) and everything blows up. Fast.
She finds herself caught in the middle of a war. David isn't exactly who he says he is. He really goes by Hatter and he's notorious for cheating the system and cleaning out casinos. Mary Elizabeth Heart, owner of the Hearts Casino, and her suits are after Hatter (everyone has been for a while -- especially Dodo, owner of the Caucus Casino), and now Alice has to play along to save her own life. It becomes a chase through Vegas and a fight to stay alive and trust each other. The latter seeming more impossible.
Think of it as Alice meets 21 meets What happens in Vegas meets Ocean's Eleven or Casino Royale. I really want to include Duchess, Jack, Mad March and even Charlie in there somehow, but I'm still working on that.
Suggestions welcomed! I just cannot get this idea out of my head.
