So the idea I've been toying with is a Boarding School type setting (since those seem to be all the rage right now) where all the students are based upon Tim Burton characters. Lydia here is obviously based upon Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice. Her brother Jack is based on Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas. And Kim is based on...well...Kim from Edward Scissorhands.
I kind of see Lydia and Jack as being part of the goth group with Jack being their de facto leader. He's also the president of the Film and Drama club. So basically he's the king of Burton Academy...you know...if you have an affinity for clove cigarettes and are part of the theatre department. I can kind of also see Edward from Edward Scissorhands and Victor from Corpse Bride being part of that group along with a few others.
Kim, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. Blonde and exceedingly normal. Right down to the normal friends and the football player boyfriend. UGH.
And then there's Julian. Who is based off the ghost with the most himself. He's a bit of a mischief maker and Lydia's best friend (has been since Freshman year). He's also completely in love with her. And he has decided that this year is finally the year he is going to tell her. He's the only one I've really gotten a clear picture of in my head...I really like the idea of Darren for him. No idea why. Just Darren Criss as Beetlejuice makes me giggle.
Other than that, things are completely open ended. I just love the idea and hope more people will hop on my insanity train. XD
After talking to Shock and Barrel's muns we kind of came up with the insane idea that Lydia and Oogie dated sometime in the past. Maybe Sophomore year through the very beginning of Junior year (they're Seniors now). She still refers to him as the asshole ex and Shock will forever hate Lydia for having dated Oogie. Who she has a crush on.
So there's been some more world building and in keeping with the theme of Beetlejuice and the fact she's sooo different. We thought it would be interesting if Kim was Lydia and Jack's stepsister -- her mother having married their father about 4 years ago. Also, it's been suggested that Max Adler would make an AMAZING Owen/Oogie. And I kind of have to agree.
Edward, my muse is Edward Scissorhands, who has a massive crush on Lydia's sister Kim. He is quiet and nice to almost everyone. He's a cuter and easily depressed. Still always up for meeting new people.
So come on, give in and join the crew?
