So, I'd really like to give playing John a go. There's some biography information in the journal to check out if you've never heard of the Nightside series, though fair warning, spoilers are abound. John lives in a place called the 'Nightside' where the sun never shines...it's filled with monsters, deities...pretty much anything and everything you can imagine. More info can be found here, a better explanation of the Nightside and it's crazyness.
John is a PI, though...admittedly he's a bit lousy on the 'detective' front. He has a knack for finding things. You hire him to find it, and he will, though you might not like the end results.
I'd love to play off some characters from the book series but honestly, he'd crossover with a ton of fandoms. Supernatural, TVD, Buffy/Angel...anything and everything that has to do with the supernatural, he'd be a decent fit for.
