Canon: I crreated an offshoot of the original races during the Vampire/Praxian war. The Fae used to mingle with Vampires, but decided to make their own reality (Underhill) when the war started. And mostly stayed there. The Fae think all of the Vampires were wiped out and have since stayed in Underhill - only coming out to mate with humans that have recessive Fae or Vampire genes.
