I mentioned yesterday when I posted the next installment of Three's A Crowd that the next chapter might be a bit delayed due to a challenge--Gusmas 2011--I'm participating in. That challenge--details found
here--is to benefit homeless, LGBT youth via The Ali Forney Center. For each drabble written, various members of the QAF fandom have pledged to donate money to this charity.
See? I told you all that the cause was well worth the wait for the next chapter. :) If you're interested in donating or writing for donations, please check out that post on IJ. The more drabbles and sponsors, the more we can make a difference for LGBT youth.
But if you're just here for the goods, here's my first 100 word drabble. Note that I probably won't pimp this out on
bjfic or
qaf_fiction until I finish off this particular series.
Title: The Night Stands Still
Series: Recovery
Author:
museme87Prompt(s): Nov. 25th - Thankful
Warnings: This part deals with the night of Justin's bashing
Notes: It's my intention to turn this into a 37 part drabble series centering around missing moments from the first half of season two and BJ's recovery from the bashing.
He doesn't believe in God.
At least, not like Debbie or Joan.
But as he sits in the lumpy chair in UPMC's waiting room, he wants to believe. Brian wants to think that their God wouldn't take a kid like Sunshine. Not yet. Not when he's just started living.
The hours creep on though, painfully steady. Jen's barely keeping it together across the room. Justin's asshole father hasn't sat down since arriving.
Then it finally happens.
Brian hears the surgeon's clinical voice, the words critical and touch-and-go.
He's overwhelmed, just really fucking grateful that no one said that word.
Dead.
