Black Friday

Did anyone else brave the crowds for Black Friday?

My mother and I got up at 3:30 and started our shopping around 5 this morning. I'm disappointed to report that things were freakishly calm this year. We're the sort of people who go for the environment as much as the deals, so not standing in line for ages or wading through throngs of people made it feel like any other holiday shopping day. So that was a little upsetting.

In the end we stuck around for four hours before heading back home. I managed to get one gift for my mom (I had her pick it out) and a birthday present for my stepdad. The rest of my purchases were for myself, lol!

My bounty included:

3 new pairs of shoes (2 work shoes, 1 exceedingly impractical but fab)
A new coat (I've had my winter coat since 2008, so it was time)
A toaster oven!
The first two seasons of Modern Family ($12 each, such a great price!)
Firefly on dvd
Sherlock Holmes and Inception on dvd

Most of the things I bought were total steals. The coat alone was regular price $250, which I got for $60. Black Friday is always an awesome day to buy coats.

I really don't have anyone to majorly buy for this year considering I'm single, so it's mostly just family stuff. And most of the family stuff I'm getting isn't really a Black Friday sort of thing.

So other than the lack of crowds, the only other disappointing thing about today is that I have to work from 4-midnight. >< Though if my shopping experience this morning is any indication, it won't be as crazy as I anticipated.
