Self Portraits

I've uploaded a few pics of some self-portraits-
doodles and paintings. I especially love this one.
She was Girl #7 in my Pop Girls series.

This was a self portrait doodle I did in my
sketchbook while teaching art to a 6 year
old girl. She was so impressed with it, that
when I turned my back, she ripped it out of  my
book and made it into a "get well card" for her
sick Mother. Later that day, I received an
apologetic phone call from her poor Mother. She
was so embarassed. I was more flattered than upset
by the art thievery experience!

Here's one from 2002. I included my two silly
kitties in the sketch because they play a big part
in inspiring me to make art! :-)

This one was a therapeutic painting I did in 2003. I was
having a hard time opening up and sharing my art with the
public. I kept on getting the terrible urge to go back into
hiding. I made this painting, to deal with my issues. I have
it hanging in a prominent place where I can read it as a daily
reminder to keep painting and sharing. Here's the text- "I want
to be loved, but have to risk being hated. I put my heart on my
sleeve. It might get smashed. Some risks are worth taking."
