Fairy Garden

Fairy Garden, originally uploaded by retrokitsch.

I've been busy in the garden...so much to do and I'm getting a late start on the season
because of all the cold, rainy weather we had this spring. Malachi bought me a bunch
of garden plants for Mothers Day and introduced me to a local nursery that sells
annuals & veggie plants for $1 and perennials & houseplants for $2!

I went last weekend and loaded up on all sorts of green little friends for my garden-
tomatoes, dill, fennel, lavender, catnip, lots of flowers etc... I also bought several
baby succulents and a spiraly-weird looking plant for indoor gardening. I've been
spending the whole week, planting containers and fertilizing/turning over the soil,
staking, weeding and all that other gardeny type stuff.

It feels really good, spending so much time outdoors. Makes me wish the weather
was nice like this year round. I'm so jealous of people who live in tropical places..
it must be so amazing gardening in a place that has fertile soil and is lush, rainy
and warm all of the time. When I was in Hawaii, I was so amazed by how BIG all
of the plant life was...everything grew 3-4 times bigger in that rich volcanic soil.

When I'm not gardening or dreaming about gardening, I'm editing pics of my trip
to Cambria. (this pic is one of them). Right now, I'm working on a big batch of pics
I took while walking around Cambria Pines Lodge & their nursery. Their gardens
are so inspiring. Yesterday, I was looking at one of the photos and almost started
crying....too much beauty overload. I also remembered what I said to my parents
when I was 13 and refused to keep going to Catholic church with them every
Sunday. I told them that I had found my own religion and it was NATURE... that
while they sat in church every Sunday, I would wander the woods and commune
with nature because that's where I feel closest to God. I still feel that way...only a
million times more! ;-)

Hope you all had a happy and fun holiday weekend!

-Lisa.
