Negative-Positive Left Hand Drawing Excercise

Feb 06, 2007 13:29

Here's an art therapy excercise my  Mom introduced
me to while in Hawaii. You sit in meditation and pull
up a negative feeling...reallly FEEL it and identify
which part of your body that negativity is flowing from.
Let that dark energy flow out towards your left arm
and down through your left hand. Pick up a crayon
and start scribbling/drawing out your negative feeling.
Afterwards, name it and write down any observations
or feelings you have about it.

Immediately after that, close your eyes, breathe deep
and imagine love flowing from your heart and surrounding
you. Reallly FEEL it before moving on to the drawing part.
Allow that love feeling to flow from your heart and down your
left arm, out through your left hand. Pick up a crayon and
start drawing on a fresh piece of paper.  When you're done,
name your drawing and write down any messages/
observations about the art you just created. Here's my
"positive/love" drawing:

This is a wonderful and therapeutic tool! It's so
great when you find out that the switch can be
flipped SO EASILY, between negative and positive!
It also feels GREAT, to release all of that negative
junk!!! The negative drawing was my FAVORITE
part of this excercise!!!! I felt like a GIGANTIC
weight had been lifted after doing it! ;-)
