Remember this one? It wanted more layers! This
piece kept on talking to me...I would get the
strangest ideas for it while laying in bed,
trying to fall asleep. I had to get out of bed
several times, in the middle of the night, to
add to it before I forgot the ideas by morning!
Conner and I did the background together. I knew that it needed a high tech look- either steel or a circuit board. Conner started digging out computer circuit boards and this one was our favorite-it's in a cool zig-zag shape
and goes w/ the collage perfectly! I had Conner drill and bolt it together because he likes working with power
tools and I don't! ;-)
My favorite part of this one is something very simple...I LOVE the transparent words on the rounded river
rocks. (which remind me of eggs...) I also freaked out over how cool the transparent Korean symbols look
on the metal! (hope I don't offend any Koreans...I just randomly clipped the writing out of a newspaper I
picked up at Assi International! I have no idea what they mean...probably something about food! ;-)
Now, I have to get caffeinated and do more
art. Yesterday, I had a hard time doing much
of anything. I just wanted to lay around and
finish Keith Haring's Diary. It's a really good
read...I laughed, cried, was shocked and
enlightened! I now have a better appreciation
& understanding of his artwork. I am so sad,
that his life was cut so short, by AIDS. Think
of what he could have done with 10-50 more
years of being alive! The really amazing thing
about his life though, is that he did more with
his short time here, than most people do with
a 100+ year lifetime! So- a BIG thank you goes
out to Keith and all the other artists who give
so much of themselves, down here on this
crazy planet!

"If I stand in front of the mirror and gaze at my
image, I see an endless number of different
conceptions of how I look. I feel as though I
have many different faces. I put them on and
take them off, and my conception of other people
is the same. People look different at different
times. I mean completely different! It may have
something to do with how they feel, but more
likely is controlled by my feelings, my emotions,
my reality at the time I am looking at them."
-Keith Haring.
