The Yard Sales were a waste of time...too much kid/baby junk. I picked up a Bookmobile order on the way home- got a bunch of CD's in this new batch-
Kate Bush's Aerial ,
Tori's The Beekeeper,
Lisa Gerard's Immortal Memory,
Lorena Mckennitt's Mask & Mirror...good stuff! I also have a gorgeous Art Pottery book...flipping through it while listening to Lisa Gerard on headphones, made me cry. Not sure if I was crying from the music or the amazingness of the pottery glazes...I think it was BOTH! (a good kind of cry...the one that is triggered by heartstrings being plucked and my soul being touched!) The other book in this grouping is really inspiring-
"Gardens Of Revelation". It's about Outsider, Visionary Art. (Watts Towers etc...
Nine_ah - you would LOVE it!)
Last night, as I was falling asleep, I was thinking about my best friend from childhood, Sandy Brooks. We used to have soooooo much fun together. We were both VERY imaginative and met eachother on the same level. We played imagination games for hours and hours and hours...we made up stories and acted them out with dolls and animal figures, we made our own dolls out of sticks and found objects...dressed them up with flowers & leaves, we rode all over the neighborhood on our pretend horses, we doodled, colored, painted & sculpted, we wrote & illustrated books together, we "ice skated" on ice cubes across the slippery floors of K-mart (LOL...), we made up rollerskating tricks, pretending to be olympic stars, we shared a secret language that involved lots of silly rhyming "words", we wrote secret letters to eachother, by handwriting backwards (could only be read in the mirror...), we ran around with our cameras, snapping pictures of weird & funny things like poop, we shared the same love for animals and could both talk in "animal talk etc...etc..etc... I was devestated when I moved away from her in the 6th grade. :-( I've never had a friend like her since.
I'm feeling playful today...I'm going to paint. I've been trying lately, to not write/talk as much...to put those thoughts and that energy into my art. :-)
