Summary: Luna always seems to make things better.
i.
She didn't know much about him, or him about her for that matter, but that didn't stop Luna from showing her support for Harry when it seemed the rest of the Hogwarts population was turning against him one by one. She'd openly showed her support in front of other students, had helped to get his story out for others to see in print, and had fought alongside him to save his godfather, a man she had never met. In the span of a few short months, Luna had gone from the eccentric girl he had never noticed before to one of his best friends who would stand by his side no matter the consequences. He couldn't have asked for a better person to enter his inner circle of friends than Luna Lovegood.

Harry had always been under the impression that once someone died, they were gone forever. You could have memories or magic mirrors to give you what you yearned, but you would never get that person back. You'd never see them again. But Luna, on the other hand? She believed that she would see her mother again; there wasn't a single doubt in her mind. It had been something about the way she spoke, the conviction behind her words. Just in one single conversation, she had given him back what he had lost so many times over. She'd given him hope.
iii.
He couldn't explain why he invited her to Slughorn's party, of all the girls in the school who would have been more than happy to be Harry Potter's date. Ron thought he had gone completely mental, but in the end, Harry was glad he had asked her. It had been a rather dull party, during the parts for which he had been present anyway, and Luna and her conspiracy theories had been the only highlight of the evening. He didn't care if other people thought Luna odd; he thought she was just unique enough to be perfect.
iv.
He'd lost so many people in the war so far. Friends. Classmates. People he considered family. And even through everything, through all the bloodshed, through all his attempts to cut himself off, she always stood by him. She wouldn't leave him to be the hero on his own, wouldn't accept no for an answer. She wouldn't let him do this alone, and even though he outwardly protested, he was actually glad she could be just as stubborn as him. Because he needed her, and he knew she wouldn't fail him in the end.

They'd been dating for three years, living together for another year and a half, and the thought of marriage never crossed his mind. They'd been HarryandLuna for such a long time, that the idea of becoming officially HarryandLuna never really seemed important. But then, he had returned home from a tiresome week-long mission, and instead of bombarding him with questions about what he had done, how everything had gone, she'd simply curled up beside him on the couch. They had sat in comfortable silence for a long time, her head resting against his chest and his fingers tangled in her hair, and then he had just asked right then and there. And when she had looked up at him with calm blue eyes and a hint of a smile, the yes that passed her lips was enough to make him want to relive that moment forever.
