OOC: Two Surveys

Mar 25, 2009 16:46

Both taken from docsgirl -- after I did them there, I figured it would be a good idea to repost them here for character/backstory purposes. First is a 14-question quiz answered in-character as Marty:

1. What would your character kill for? What would they die for? Sheesh, this thing starts out morbid. . .but I'd kill or die for my family (and that includes Doc.) Or to help people get out of Arcadia. I could do the whole "freedom fighter" thing, I think. Give everybody else trapped there a hand.

2. What would they refuse to do under any circumstances? Why? Sell somebody out to the Fae. Or, hell, to anybody else, really. It's just goddamn wrong. Knowing you sent somebody to hell or to be killed or. . . Add another thing to "what would I die for," I guess.

3. What do they dream about? [Either literal or figurative, specify please.] Dream-dreams? Eh, I don't remember 'em often, though my favorites were flying dreams. And ones where I got to be tall. There was this really awesome one I had where I was Godzilla. . .
Anyway, for the whole "life goal" thing, I really, really wanted to be a rock star. I love music, and I love performing, and I just -- wanted to do something special, you know? Be rich, be famous, all that. Bastard who caught me kind of shitted that up, though. . . .

4. What’s their biggest fear? Going back. I made it out of there (alone), and if they took me back. . . I wouldn't even have Doc this time. I'd be all alone there, and the way Carlos acts sometimes. . . . I'd rather die than go back. Those bastards ever catch me again, I'm slitting my throat first chance I get.

5. What single object would they be most hard pressed to part with? Why? Gotta say, my guitar. I love it. Saved up for a while to get it, you know. I've got it tuned just right, and -- well, I know it by now. I've played it so much it's -- it's like a part of me. It's my baby (yeah, I know, cliche).

6. What is their fondest memory? Fondest memory? I think it's a tie between my first time on a skateboard and my first time playing guitar. Nothing like finding out you got a knack for something the first time you do it! Especially with the guitar. Guy at the music store told mom to get me some lessons pronto and I'd strike it big. That was awesome.

7. What is their worst memory? Finding out who Carlos really was. Nothing like discovering the guy who said he was a big-time agent for young musicians like me wasn't even human and wasn't ever going to let me see my family again. Shit. . .

8. What or who was were their most significant influence? Expound. Jeez, this is tough. Suppose I could say Huey Lewis or Jimmy Hendrix or Chuck Berry or any of those guys. . . . But, honestly, I think it was my dad. I mean, I know I complain about him being a wimp a lot, but -- he tried, you know? We had some good times together. And I know definitely how I don't want to be when I grow up. (That sounds mean -- I do love ya, Dad, you're just kinda spineless. Even you admit it.) Doc counts too. If not for him, I think I mighta just gone crazy one day and -- ugh, don't want to think about that.

9. What do they believe makes a successful life? Getting to live the dream! And I mean for real, not what the Fae gave me. Get to rock out on stage, sign autographs for fans, then go home to a great house with a nice car and a wife and kids. . .yeah, I did want a family at some point. Meet someone special, have a kid, get him his first guitar. . . . you know. Family.

10. What makes them laugh? My friends all tell me I laugh at the stupidest stuff. I say they don't have room to talk 'cause we all liked the Stooges. But yeah, I'm the guy who laughs even at the bad jokes. I like limericks especially. Not just the guy from Nantucket, clean ones. Though the dirty ones are better. ;)

11. What are their religious views? Well, we went to church when I was younger, but that kinda fell by the wayside when I was 12. I believe in God and Heaven and Hell, but couldn't tell you more than that. Dunno where Arcadia fits into it all either. (Not sure I want to know.)

12. What is their greatest strength? Um -- I'm fast? And resilient? And I've got a great singing voice? Really proud of the latter, incidentally.

13. Do they have a fatal flaw? If so, what is it? I guess, growing up with Mom and Dad, I was always a little -- worried about failing. Never wanted to be the guy who gave up on anything. Got me into trouble once or twice when I took some stupid dares. Probably why I fell for Carlos's line, too. Fast track to success was too much to pass up.

14. Who is the most important person in their life? I can only choose one? I mean, I love my parents, and I really wanted to see them again. They're -- they're kind of messed up, but they're family. But Doc. . . Doc helped me survive. Like I said, I would have ended up really messed up if it wasn't for him. And when he just disappeared in the Hedge, I --
he's all I've got left
So, yeah. Doc and the folks.

And a second 20-question one that seems to have an odd emphasis on sex:

01.) Full name? Martin Seamus McFly

02.) Best friend? Doc Brown

03.) Sexuality? Straight male

04.) Favorite color? Red

05.) Relationship status? Single

06.) Ideal mate? Someone who is just as skilled musically as he is, who likes his favorite bands and doesn’t mind going to horror movies.

07.) Turn-ons? Musical talent, long hair, great sense of humor

08.) Last sexual experience? About a week before the whole Carlos incident, his buddy Rick managed to get a skin flick on his TV. The guys got through half of the movie before Rick’s mom caught them and made them turn it off. Later that night, Marty had some very interesting dreams featuring the female actors (which ended when one of them turned into Rick’s mom, weirding him out).

09.)Favorite food? Hot dogs, fresh off the grill.

10.)Crushes? He had minor things for Ally Sheedy (from “War Games”) and Jennifer Jason Leigh - and of course all the cute girls in the music videos.

11.)Favorite music? 80s rock -- he loves Huey Lewis and the News in particular

12.)Biggest fear? Being dragged back to Arcadia, this time with no chance of escape.

13.)Biggest fantasy? Becoming a famous rock star -- a REAL one this time -- playing the most popular songs of all time. Touring the country, rich enough to own a big house -- the works.

14.)Quirks in bed? I think he’d be a yeller. A MUSICAL yeller, no less. He’s probably the kind to listen to music while making love too.

15.)Bad habits? He’s a little hot-headed and rather susceptible to peer pressure. He doesn’t often turn down dares, no matter how stupid they may be.

16.)Biggest regret? Not being smart enough to tell Carlos that he really ought to talk to his parents before going with him to get that record contract.

17.)Best kept secrets? Remember the living room rug incident that happened when Marty was eight? Apparently he nearly did a repeat performance at the age of nine when he knocked over a candle playing on the coffee table. Luckily Marty had a glass of water on-hand - he extinguished the small flame and managed to push the coffee table slightly to cover up the small burn. Never told anybody. He’s also pretty good at sneaking out of the house and not getting caught, though a couple of times Lorraine or George heard him and made him come back.

18.) Last thought? It would probably be some variation on "Oh, shit" if he died of anything besides old age.

19.) Worst sexual/romantic experience? His very first kiss was with a girl named Suzy Gale. They sort-of dated off and on for a bit afterwards - both early teens, so nothing really special happened besides them making out. Then one day, Suzy told Marty she didn’t think they should date anymore - because she’d realized she was a lesbian.
Yeah, that was kind of a blow to Marty’s ego.

20.) Biggest insecurity? Ending up a complete failure and working in a menial job for somebody he hates. He’s seen some of that with his Dad, and it’s definitely not the life he wants.
