Writing angst.

Because if I'm going to rant and ramble about something, at least I can be original about it. Though it's not being original that got me into this mess. @_ ( Read more... )

I was going to say more, but I know you and I don't always communicate well in text; it might have led to a misunderstanding and maybe an argument, and I don't want that. So I'll just say this:

Reading that blog entry did help, thank you.

Thank you. Like I said below, I didn't put things very well when I wrote the LJ entry. What it all came from was that I realized the story I was writing wasn't my story, so I couldn't keep writing it. The focus on publishing was just part of it; I think I didn't want to say what I truly felt because it sounded like failing, and I have a pretty ridiculous fear of being a failure.

Anyway.

Everything you've said is right. It gets very difficult not to think about the publishing side of things when trying to get published. But I'm working on plotting and planning the stories I really want to tell, and I'll know when it's time to start again.

Also: already had the Neil Gaiman vid in my favorites, but added that second one for the bad times. Thanks again. ^_^

I know what you mean. It's why I tend to read over things I post on the internet two or three (or more) times before posting them, to make sure I'm really saying what I mean and being as clear as possible. ..on other sites, at least. Not always on LJ. Eh heh heh.

And yeah, it's hard to know what advice to follow and what not to. Some of the people who say you have to finish what you start are writers I admire and respect, but at the same time, what works for them won't necessarily work for anybody else.

As for NaNo, yeah, it's... not really a challenge. ^_^ The story I just dropped, I worked on it for six days and it's a bit over 19K words, and the story that went bad earlier this year was 103K written in exactly a month. This is why I don't talk about NaNo among people who are doing NaNo... they'd kill me. @_@
