I just had (what I think is) a fabulous idea!
Georgie cannot be housed with Gress, Tuck, Applique, and Honey (and, hopefully, if Amber comes home, with Amber, as well) - Gressy is too much the ALPHA hamster on the scene. And, the girls, it seems, have been parted from their brother for too long - while they are not violent towards George the way Gress is, they kind of fluff up and get defensive when they 'confront' him. [For George's part, when I try to re-introduce him to his sisters or daddy, he puts his front paws up and opens his mouth because he feels threatened.] Although... given time and patience and with me watching over them like a good Mommy, he and Honey, at least, will relax enough to get along. Gress, on the other hand, will (quite viciously) attack George - or me, if I happen to get in the way, which I inevitably do, as I don't want my babies to hurt one another. Puncture wounds (the kind made by small, sharp, hamster teeth) bleed like a mofo!!!
BUT!!! Georgie is a kind, sweet, friendly little boy. He's very loving. If you reach in to pet him, he will climb up into your hand. He's adorable. :) He does not bite! And, I've been thinkng about finding another home for him - after all, it necessitates keeping a house that has only one hamster in it, and a completely separate house for four more hamsters. The Family Service Agency (where I go for therapy on Tuesdays) has childrens' services as well. I think that George would make a good Good Will Ambassador for hamsters to children. :)
So I made a call and talked to the director of the Agency. :) She says she'll call me back after she's done some research. :) Plus, the "bonus" part of this scenario is that I could actually go visit and see my little boy from time to time - after all, I'm there once a week already. :)
