My friend got transferred there for her job, and she was pregnant at the time, so naturally I'm not going to let her go out there and raise the kid alone.

Dad was a deadbeat.

Not really. Most of my family's in the midwest somewhere, so she was pretty much the only thing keeping me on the east coast.

Well...I was a kid myself when I used to think about being a mom one day, like all little girls. Now I'm older and know...there are things I don't want to pass down.

I get that. To be honest, I'm pretty glad that this kid didn't turn out more like his dad.

He was a douchebag. He treated my friend like shit.

He bailed on her when she told him he was pregnant. And being in a relationship as more than a sex buddy is completely out of the question. She was with him for a little over a year, and he never tried to make her feel like she was worth anything more than a quick fuck.
