pointless....

She looked around her. Strands of hair flew into her vision with the gentle wind. The long grass of the fields waved lazily in the breeze. The warm air caressed her skin softly. Her eyes closed slowly. Her heel kicked softly against the dark dirt. A small screech emitted from the hinge above her. Her body swayed a bit. Her hair was thrown over each shoulder as she lay back, pulling on the chains of the swing with her hands. The bright blue of the sky flooded her gaze. She stared at it for as long as she could.

Her arms heaved her back up into a normal sitting position. She looked around her once more. The breeze was still blowing; the perpetrater of the ripples in the grass. A smile played across her lips. Serenity. The lids of her eyes fell again, taking in every sound, every taste, every touch, every smell. Her foot kicked the ground, causing another groan above her.

Everything was so quiet. She was not used to it. Thoughts normally plagued her mind, filling it with noise. School was a Phalinx of Peubesence... Full of loud........ creatures. The silence was heaven to her. Everything in her mind lay to rest, and there was no one else around. Her lungs filled with air, as full as they could be. She held it a moment, then exhaled with a smile. Relaxation. That's what this was. Relaxation. Health class would tell you to find one spot to be relaxed. If she were to do that, she would pick this spot. Her eyes opened again, drinking in the light and the scenery.

A small field extended in front of her. A small pond lay to her right, home of frogs. She glanced to the no longer used, and over grown soccer fields. Her gaze fell to her feet. Sandled. Her toes were slightly dirty from kicking the ground beneath her. Her hand lay upon the chain of the swing. She looked up at the hinge. It looked and felt stable.

She stood, keeping herself in the seat. Her feet let go of the ground and she began to swing. Slow and low at first, but soon she was soaring higher and higher. Her eyes lay closed, the feeling of rising and falling leaving her in awe. She smiled as she swang. Her legs kicked in and out in time with the swing's motions.

To her, nothing could be better than that one moment of serenity.
