With the sweltering heat of Thailand comes A LOT of lethargy. As such, I've done pretty much nothing but sleep, swim, eat yummy food, work and read. I know now why Thailand is known as the 'land of smiles'. It takes too much bleeding effort to get pissed off in this climate.
The Husband and I went and explored Cambodia for a week. Talk about history that will break your heart. I wondered before we went if we'd hear mention of Angelina Jolie, and boy did we. They love that woman like one of their own. I find it very sweet :).
I have so many photograps from my time in South Korea, Thailand, and Cambodia. It never occured to me you guys might be interested in seeing some of them, before now. Maybe, once this heat lessens (it's hot season here) I will summon the energy to do a massive pic post. Maybe? I will also tell you guys the story of how I literally almost died travelling on two seperate Chinese Airline Airbus 320s. Twice. No exaggerations, I still think back and am stunned that I am alive. I hate those tiny planes. Give me a 747, four glorious engines, please.
Anyway, as I said I have been reading a lot. My newest thing is series and as such, I've been reading a lot if Young Adult Fiction.
It's bothersome, in a way. I know there are plenty of series for adults, but I always feel like they rely too heailvy on things that don't intrigue me. I am not a massive fan of Sci-fi and even magic/fantasy has to be done in just the right way (not through the daydreams of a mary-sue-middle-aged-author who has a vampire/werewolf/whatever fetish) and I not in it for the smut; most 'adult series' are all about the smut, plot dead last. In other words, young Adult fiction for all that it lacks is more gratifying than what is out there for 'not so young adults'. Which is unfortunate. That ought to be explored more. Don't know how else to explain that.
I just read The Hunger Games, which everyone has been raving about and I found it entertaining. I liked it. I also read a series, I believe it was called The Last Survivors, by Susan Beth Pfeffer and that I loved. I can't get my hands on the third book, however, which is driving me crazy.
Anyway, I am always open to recommendations if you guys want to suggest any series you've read that you think I might enjoy :)
I posted my new story on H&V, which I was suppoosed to have turned into an exchange and never did because my life is batshit insane. It's my first epic length at 60k+ words, so I hope to get some feedback. I like that I get to work on it more as I go.
Oh, and Bunney, you commented on H&V on Twice The Pleasure. I am working on another small story but I do plan to update that eventually, jsyk. I love that you love dark!Hermione. I love her more than anything and I really want to see her done more, but it is hard to get her just right, I think. I will try to update it ASAP for you. :)
That's all, for now. This update was long overdue. How are all of you?
