Summary: The Maou tries to have a bit of alone time with his fiancee, in order to establish if their engagement now means more than just a misunderstanding of customs.
Why, why, why had he listened to advice from, of all people, his mother?!
Yuuri loved her, he was her son, so of course he did. Still, it couldn't be denied she had the subtly of a sledgehammer. And in such a delicate situation, he felt there was much more need for tact. That of course left the question; why had he thought this was a good idea at all?
Sighing, the demon king shook his head, so distracted he almost burnt his finger on forgetting he was holding a burning match in his hand. Thankfully he noticed just in time as the last wick was lit, as he straightened to look around the dim room. The only source of light came from the dozen or so candles placed all around, and while he was skeptical, and felt a little silly for going along with the idea, Yuuri had to admit the atmosphere seemed quite nice, relaxing, even...romantic.
Immediately he felt his face heat up at the idea. Of course with someone like Wolfram around, the idea wasn't entirely foreign. After the last couple of years he had spent ruling Shin Makoku, and incidentally being engaged to the bratty prince, Yuuri had learned to live with the others behaviour, and had stopped resisting quite so much. Yes, where he once fled in terror at any attempt from the blond to be affectionate, the king now allowed the casual touches and gestures, and actually found he had difficulty sleeping without the bed hog in a pink nightgown laying next to him.
Perhaps at first it was simply getting used to routine, but now the wimp couldn't deny there might be more to it. Sadly he was still that, a wimp. And because of his nerves, as well as his schedule, there never seemed to be proper time to address the matter of his relationship with the fire-wielder. Hopefully though, that could change.
Tonight, Yuuri had brought Wolfram back to Earth with him so they could be alone. No servants to watch over them, no royal duties to distract them, it was just going to be the two of them in the house, on a what the king could only describe as a stay-at-home date. He had ordered in some food for them, set out the room in a nice atmosphere, everything looked good. Now all he had to do was get his 'date'.
"Wolfram, you ready to come down?" he called to the blond, from the bottom of the stairs.
