She turned sharply as one of the assistants told her everything was ready, leaving the girl only to nod, swallowing the lump in her throat as the older woman pulled the veil gently over her face, checking that her hair was pinned securly before handing her the bouquet of irises and giving her last minute instruction.
This was it. All she had to do was wait for the organ to start playing, and on cue, she was to walk down the aisle. That was all. Just a short walk to the altar, and then the ceremony would start.
Clenching the stems of the flowers tightly, Juliet closed her eyes, trying her best to relax. Yes this was scary, and she was young, a fugitive, and probably going to get into a lot of trouble for this, but...
There really was only one question she needed to ask herself to decide whether or not she should go through with this; did she love Romeo enough to want to marry him?
With a final exhale, she straightened, and heard the musical cue of the Wedding March. The answer was easy, as she took her first step, moving through the heavy doors and into the view of the rest of the church occupants. Her expression was no calm and serene, looking straight ahead, knowing she had just chosen the greatest happiness imaginable for her future.

Like magic, the feeling in the pit of his stomach instantly dissolved. He blinked, and his heart skipped a beat. Then reality came back around him, and he took a long breath, smiling genuinely this time. Every time he laid eyes on her, every time they were apart and then reunited- every time, she was more beautiful. They might not have things like ring bearers or flower girls, but he couldn't think of a single way this moment could be more perfect. He just watched as she completed the walk to the altar, and then stepped towards her.

Gone was the tight feeling of being in her wedding dress. In fact she almost felt like she was walking on hair, the soft white fabric just barely trailing behind her with each step. Despite her arms and shoulders being bare, her cream complexion tingled with warmth, a peaceful smile on her face as she finally halted on the small altar steps.
As she stood and listened to the priest speaking of the bonds of marriage, she placed one of her hands in his, turning a little as instructed so the veil could be lifted from her face, before the vows were to be repeated by the couple.

"I, Romeo, take you, Juliet, to be my wife..."

Trying to keep her breathing even, she squeezed his hand as she repeated the words, before doing as she was told, and picking up a golden wedding band that was sitting on a velvet pillow. Her eyes were downcast as she carefully slipped the ring on Romeo's finger, before meeting the adoring gaze once more.
"With this ring, I thee wed." she spoke softly, before offering her own hand to him.

And then she heard it. Husband and wife. It was said so clearly, it was now official. They were married, actually married. The realisation almost made her heart stop. Juliet had to hold back the urge to let out a happy sob at the declaration, before hearing the final words spoken as the music began to start up. There was one thing left to do before they were to walk back down the aisle as a married couple.
Of course there was no hesitance in that. Smiling, eyes nearly brimming with happiness, she leaned forward so she could meet Romeo half way in their first kiss as husband and wife.
