It was the oddest thing. Despite the fact her wedding dress had fit so well yesterday when she tried it on for the first time, suddenly Juliet felt as if the material was wrapped too tightly around her frame. She struggled to catch the movement of her chest as she breathed in and out through the top of the gown, any little twitch of her body being restricted. That might have been for the best though, since it prevented her heart from leaping from her chest, which she was sure it could do considering how hard it was thumping against her ribs.

She turned sharply as one of the assistants told her everything was ready, leaving the girl only to nod, swallowing the lump in her throat as the older woman pulled the veil gently over her face, checking that her hair was pinned securly before handing her the bouquet of irises and giving her last minute instruction.

This was it. All she had to do was wait for the organ to start playing, and on cue, she was to walk down the aisle. That was all. Just a short walk to the altar, and then the ceremony would start.

Clenching the stems of the flowers tightly, Juliet closed her eyes, trying her best to relax. Yes this was scary, and she was young, a fugitive, and probably going to get into a lot of trouble for this, but...

There really was only one question she needed to ask herself to decide whether or not she should go through with this; did she love Romeo enough to want to marry him?

With a final exhale, she straightened, and heard the musical cue of the Wedding March. The answer was easy, as she took her first step, moving through the heavy doors and into the view of the rest of the church occupants. Her expression was no calm and serene, looking straight ahead, knowing she had just chosen the greatest happiness imaginable for her future.

Meanwhile, while Juliet was waiting outside of the doors to the large room, Romeo was resisting the urge to straighten his tie or run a hand through his hair. Anything to keep his hands occupied, keep his mind off the knotting feeling in his stomach. He was trying his damned hardest to look happy, but he had never been one for ceremonies, and standing up here waiting wasn't the most pleasant thing he could imagine. Then the music picked up, the doors opened, and Juliet made her way through.

Like magic, the feeling in the pit of his stomach instantly dissolved. He blinked, and his heart skipped a beat. Then reality came back around him, and he took a long breath, smiling genuinely this time. Every time he laid eyes on her, every time they were apart and then reunited- every time, she was more beautiful. They might not have things like ring bearers or flower girls, but he couldn't think of a single way this moment could be more perfect. He just watched as she completed the walk to the altar, and then stepped towards her.

The butterflies in her chest were still fluttering anxiously during the whole walk down the aisle, but it was fine. Even through the slightly hazy filter of the veil over her vision, she could still see Romeo as clear as day, and knew exactly where she was heading.

Gone was the tight feeling of being in her wedding dress. In fact she almost felt like she was walking on hair, the soft white fabric just barely trailing behind her with each step. Despite her arms and shoulders being bare, her cream complexion tingled with warmth, a peaceful smile on her face as she finally halted on the small altar steps.

As she stood and listened to the priest speaking of the bonds of marriage, she placed one of her hands in his, turning a little as instructed so the veil could be lifted from her face, before the vows were to be repeated by the couple.

As she made her way down the aisle, he could barely breathe. Her hair, her dress, her veil, the way she was walking captivated him. When she was finally at the altar, he almost wished the moment could have lasted longer. But these next moments were infinitely more important, weren't they? A handful of moments leading up until the rest of their lives. Looking lovingly into her face, he barely processed the priest's words, too focused on her.

"I, Romeo, take you, Juliet, to be my wife..."

The girl met Romeo's gaze and matched the loving adoration with her own, her face pinkening but smile never faltering. Hearing him actually say those words, that he wanted her as his wife for all time, made the realness of the situation sink in. No matter what happened now, they weren't just two silly adolescents acting on a whim. This would show how dedicated they were to each other, and that all the risks they would embark upon were a dedication to what they felt for each other.

Trying to keep her breathing even, she squeezed his hand as she repeated the words, before doing as she was told, and picking up a golden wedding band that was sitting on a velvet pillow. Her eyes were downcast as she carefully slipped the ring on Romeo's finger, before meeting the adoring gaze once more.

"With this ring, I thee wed." she spoke softly, before offering her own hand to him.

He couldn't deny that his heart was racing, but it wasn't from fear or nervousness any longer. It was from adrenaline, from pure happiness at the promise of a lifetime of joy. He'd seen it himself, and it was all he could have ever hoped for. That someone like her could possibly love someone like him... It was like a miracle, he thought.

"With this ring, I thee wed." He repeated, slipping the ring in his own hand onto her finger gently.

As she felt the cool metal slip onto her finger with ease, she looked back up at Romeo lovingly, fingers coiling around his as the final declaration and address to the church was made. After all they had gone through, and what no doubt they would go through, there was no regret for Juliet. This was a promise that meant so much more than what it appeared. No matter what happened now, they were going to pull through, and enjoy a full and happy life together.

And then she heard it. Husband and wife. It was said so clearly, it was now official. They were married, actually married. The realisation almost made her heart stop. Juliet had to hold back the urge to let out a happy sob at the declaration, before hearing the final words spoken as the music began to start up. There was one thing left to do before they were to walk back down the aisle as a married couple.

Of course there was no hesitance in that. Smiling, eyes nearly brimming with happiness, she leaned forward so she could meet Romeo half way in their first kiss as husband and wife.

He met her lips, and then moved his head back, taking her in. Time seemed to freeze; he could hear those who were attending clapping in the crowd, but it seemed unreal. It was like tunnel vision, or something of the like, because all he could really see was her. Even when he took his first steps down the aisle, his eyes were glued to her, his wife- wife. At that thought, he stops walking for a moment to pick her up, spinning her around in his arms.

Juliet revelled in the closeness, and despite the fact there were in front of a good number of their friends, it all felt so intimate, like it was just the two of them. Her expression only changed when she was suddenly lifted of the group and spun around. Even so she felt entirely safe and content, holding on tightly as she relaxed, head lulling against his shoulder.

"I love you Romeo." she whispered
