Well it's almost 2 AM and I just got home from work. Well not home, my hotel. And the work was getting ushered in past the waiting throngs, through the velvet rope (because we were on The List) into one of the hottest clubs in Miami. I managed to get dolled up fairly well, actually, complete with CFMPs - I'm amazed I remember how to walk in these things! Lacy black skirt and black halter top. Amber jewelry.
When we met with the club manager earlier today and asked him what time we should come to see the club in action he said, "Come early so you can see everything" - and we all thought to ourselves that means 10ish, right? Then he followed up with "We open at 11 PM, so come around 11:30, but the club won't really get hopping until about 12:30 - 1 AM." So there we were, yawning and trying to look cool, at 1 AM in the morning.
So - the club? Eh. Yes, cool screens and lights. And they have a neat "Mansion" motif going (thus the name of the club) with large oversized velvet couches and loveseats, and big lit-up chandeliers. But the music - oh my freakin' god - is THAT what passes for club music these days? How awful!! OK, I know I'm stuck in the 80's and all that, but really - it all sounds the same! Same overdone bass beat, same screechy twitchy vocals (can singers these days not hold a single note? and that's considered an accomplishment?) I have no idea how to dance to that crap.
(And you kids stay off of my lawn!)
Yes, I sound old and unhip. But I'm sorry - today's "club" music just absolutely sucks.
The people watching was fun, though. Lots of cleavage and bling.
Off to bed now - *yawn* - it is SO past my bedtime. Back to Atlanta tomorrow.
'night, all.
