Off to Miami

Well I know I said I had no travel between Boston and the beginning of August (and only one trip in August) - but naturally that isn't to be the case.

I'm off to Miami tomorrow to do a site visit - back about noon on Friday, and will work from home that afternoon.

I'm terribly amused about this site visit.

We're bidding on a program for a client - I'd rather not say who, but let's just say they don't have the cachet of Playboy, and they want to be in the same category as Maxim (but with naked chicks.) They want to put on a Superbowl party in Miami in February, and this party is supposed to attract A-list celebrities and feature an A-list celebrity headlining act. They've already contracted with one of the hottest clubs in Miami, one where A-list celebs actually show up.

The logistics of putting on the party? No problem. Contracting an A-list celeb to perform? Piece of cake (as long as they don't turn down the opportunity when they hear who is sponsoring the party.) Managing decor, food, and beverage? We do this every day.

But attracting A-list celebs to actually ATTEND? That's a little bit outside of our scope. And we turned down the offer to bid (very politely) with the honest response that we don't have the connections and are not a PR firm, and therefore that request falls outside the scope of our offerings.

The client refused our refusal. Seems they want to work with us. Nice, eh? They said they don't mind if we have to partner with a PR firm, but they'd like to see what we can do.

So I'm on my way to Miami to have an afternoon meeting with the manager of the hot club (and two of my colleagues) to discuss the logistics. And THEN - we're coming back at night, when the club is in full swing to see what it's like in action.

Now I'm struggling trying to find something "hot" to wear - and it shows how long it's been since I've done something like that, because I no longer have leather pants, and all of my skirts come just past the knee. So I'm settling for snazzy rather than hot. I am SO going to look (and feel) out of place, but I'm still looking forward to it!

Well then. Off to Miami. Back on Friday. Ta.
