Monday morning you gave me no warning

Hello all!

As my usual chorus goes, I'm swamped. However, wanted to do a quick post about what a lovely weekend I had, and to update folks on the termite situation. (It's actually a long post, so it's LJ-cut for your pleasure.)

Yes, we have a termite situation.

After figuring out that we actually have one company for regular pest control, and a different one for our termite bond (and after having called the wrong one on Thursday when the termites swarmed), we finally got it all figured out, and our pest inspector, who name is Mickey Spillane (no, seriously), confirmed that we do, indeed, have termites. Fortunately they seem to be confined to just the pantry, which backs up to our half bath, and he thinks they came up around a pipe. He sprayed killer foam (Killer Foam!) and will send out a guy this week to tear open the wall, put some hardcore poison down that way, and rebuild the chewed-up portion of our home. Fortunately, again, that seems to just be the baseboard and wall of our pantry. It could definitely be a lot worse.

So my Friday was spent dealing with that, and catching up on the second season of Slings and Arrows, which may be the Best Television Show EVER. Anyone even remotely involved in theater, or who has ever seen a play, should watch this show. And the first season is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com! (
Yendi, take note!) Season 1 centered around a production of Hamlet, and season 2 centers around a production of The Scottish Play. The actors are fantastic, the writing is sharp, and it just makes one smile with glee.

Friday evening husband and I walked up to Coyote Grill along with our neighbors, The Adams Family (duh duh duh *snapsnap*) and Kelly and Alex. We drank pitchers of margaritas, ate way too much queso and guacamole, and then went back to our house for tequila shots and other drinks. Not quite sure WHAT the hell we were thinking, but it was fun.

Saturday morning I got up at 6:30 AM so I could join Sarah Adams, and her friend Beth, to walk their dogs in the Atlanta Humane Society pet parade in Candler Park. We started with breakfast at Waffle House (they now have cinnamon oatmeal waffles which are AWESOME), then made our sleepy way to the park. To my surprise the event was actually being staffed by a committee from GaMPI, so I unexpectedly ran into about 20 people I knew. Really wish I'd known that - would have brushed my hair and put on a little make up, instead of just pulling on my Daily Show baseball cap and slapping on some chapstick. The walk was fun, though.

Then it was time for a nap, and then Sarah came over and we worked in my garden (for my birthday she bought me flowers and some bulbs, and promised to help me Not Immediately Kill Them.)

Saturday evening we went to dinner at the home of The Other Whiteheads. I love these people. (And not just because Charlie reads my blog. Hi Charlie.) They are funny, smart, clever, and just generally fun to be around. We need to get together more often. Jin Hee cooked us delicious Korean food (we liked the Kim Chee dumplings best of all) and we had fun discussing politics and how stupid other people are.

Sunday afternoon we brought The Adams Family along with us to my mother's house for an Easter brunch - we brought along Bloody Mary fixings and Mimosa fixings - yum. Mutti did a "make your own crepe" thing, which was delicious! She made a ton of little crepe pancakes and had savory fillings (creamed mushrooms, creamed spinach, and cheesy ham) and sweet fillings (different jams, Nutella, powdered sugar.) Quite tasty, and I ate too many.

Then it was home and nap time (yes, weekends are for naps), and laundry on Sunday evening.

And for those of you following my fertility posts, the doctor called me with the blood test results - I'm not pregnant, but my progesterone levels were GOOD which he said suggests that I HAVE ovulated, which hopefully means I AM ovulating now and then, which means I CAN get pregnant! Hooray!
Busy week ahead - I'm going to an MPI conference in Atlanta (downtown) on Wednesday and Thursday, so much to get done before that, of course.

I have to write an article for Event Solutions magazine which is due Friday - will probably work on that tonight, since tomorrow night we're going out for a friend's birthday, and Wednesday/Thursday I'll be out at MPI events.

Next week - Chicago!

And husband and I decided that we ARE going back to Jamaica for our 5th wedding anniversary, and are inviting friends, so I have much planning to do on that end as well.

Have a lovely week, all!
