My event went REALLY well, and my client is happy. The only things that went wrong were content related (not our area) - all the logistics were basically flawless.

If you're ever doing an event at the Palm Springs Convention Center, however, think twice. Talk about nickel and diming! Normally facilities will provide pitchers of water and glasses on tables for meetings - it's always complimentary, and part of the facility rental. This venue, however, wanted to charge $8 per person. For pitchers of water. Tap water. Are you kidding me? They tried to charge us $4.50 per chair (we had 272 chairs) as a set up fee. I politely and emphatically declined to sign on that dotted line, so she instead charged for 12 man hours of set up labor, at $18 an hour. Considerably less money, but let me please point out that setting a room like this can be easily done by 3 men in 45 minutes. She claims it took 4 men 3 hours. Wow - guess the desert air makes people move REALLY SLOWLY.

Anyhow, bottom line is that Difficult Client is happy, and already talking to us about future events this year that she wants us to handle.

On another topic...

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with some my comments on Christianity in my last post - I do recognize that I'm having a reactionary attitude, and again, I do not begrudge anyone their beliefs. That is, until their beliefs cause them to try to mess up my country and force an agenda, and then I start to have the opinion that all organized religion should be banned outright, and personal religion should only be allowed in the home or place of worship. But I do not blame all Christians (nor do I blame all Muslims for Al Quaeda.) I do, however, reflect that most political violence in history has been done in the name of religion.

I'm becoming religionist. I have religionphobia. I'm an anti-religite.

Headed back to Atlanta tomorrow, and I'll be home for like a whole week! *gasp* Then off to Philadelphia from April 4 through April 8.

Good night all...
