And this is why, when I am Fascist Dictator of the Universe, religion will be outlawed in all organized forms.

For goodness sakes people - it's a freakin' CARTOON. And note to the protestors: you are NOT helping the image of Islam with retaliatory acts of violence. Chill the f*ck out.

Do they not have better things to worry about in the world? How ( Read more... )

That cartoon happened over the fall, and it's only lately that Islamic bible(koran?)-beaters have come out and gotten upset, it's like why now? Some reports say maybe because the elected officials are being pressed to get political about it now since an election is not too far away.

Not too sure on it all, but it's just such a curiousity, I feel ignorant because I'm not muslim and do not understand why the head guy cant be imaged in any form.. or something.. I mean, you see Jesus everywhere, as are Virgin MArys, and even "God" is picture up in the sunlight clouds of heaven... no one knows what *God* looks like... I mean, can you draw what God looks like?

...and it's just a cartoon- althought it does go deeper than *just a cartoon*, it's mocking their big dude somehow... Definately chill before you blow something else up though, please. Violence is NOT the answer...

I think the stoning the embassy buildings is a valid response, I don't know why... I just don't think burning things down isn't helping. And what about the poor protestor who died from being trampled by his co-protestors? Who's hands does his blood fall on?

Anyway.. good points you made.

On NPR this morning it was reported that, when the cartoons were first published in Denmark, the local imams (sp?) wrote a letter to the President, demanding a meeting with him and an apology for the cartoons. They never heard back, so they started circulating the cartoons throughout the Muslim world. Voila, worldwide Muslim protest.
