A few years ago, several folks tried to encourage me to make a standalone web site/blog, where I would comment on economics and politics, and how they relate. At the time, I didn't have any more focus than "What I'm thinking about today," which would make it indistinguishable from 100,000 or so other blogs on political economy, so I declined.
For a class project, I wrote out what might be the seed of something. As I see it, it would be a blog/website that looked at the common misunderstandings of economics (and possibly politics), and explains the evidence of what actually happened, and what it means for the popular concepts of how the world works. I would try to look at the same evidence that PhDs use in published papers, and explain it in language that an ordinary American can understand.
So here's the question: Do you think there's a need for such a site? Would you read it? Would you link to articles/blog posts (when warranted, of course) where others would see it? Do you have a preference for web site, or blog, and why?
