Yes, I've been a bad girl and haven't updated in quite a long time. I
think with the computer being upstairs, I'm just not as apt to spend
time in front of it updating and well, I've been busy enough at work
that I haven't really been able to do an update from there. So let's
see, what has been going on?
Well, I had the LOOOOONG holiday weekend which was really, really nice
to have. I do have to remember to give myself a few days off every once
in awhile. During the holiday weekend. I slept in a lot, John came
over and fixed my toilet and we hung out for a bit even though the poor
guy wasn't feeling that well. I also went to the Farmer's Market for
the first time in a long time and bought strawberries, asparagus and
fresh corn. Then I went to a nursery and bought some plants (I finally
have hanging baskets for over my porch) and a new windchime (Yep, I want
to be the annoying neighbor). So that night I used my new grill (the
one the John put together for me) and grilled up the corn and asparagus
and some other stuff. I also came to realize that I need more practice
in using the grill. I am not quite the grill master. I didn't burn
anything but I still need to work on my grilling. I also went out and
bought a patio set. So now I am a proud owner of a table and four
chairs. I went with the wood set and I can always go an weather treat
them. I found that I just liked the look of the wood the best, not to
mention that the set was really cheap. I then spent the rest of the
long weekend putting all of the chairs together. The first chair was a
real pain to put together and then funnily enough, the rest of the
chairs weren't that bad to put together. I have to say that I like how
the set looks. Now I need to get some all-weather cushions and an
outdoor rug and I am all set. Ok, I want to put some concrete stain on
the patio since the two parts of the patio don't match color-wise. But
I'm guessing that is a project for another day. Heck, my table has a
space for an umbrella if I want to add one. I definitely feel very much
like the suburban homeowner.
Of course, now I am the somewhat worried homeowner. They are finally
starting to build the townhouses behind me. The ones that I would have
bought at if they had started construction sooner. What is making me
concerned is that the starting prices for the townhome with the similar
layout to mine is a good bit less than I paid for mine. Admittedly,
mine has more windows and the price being listed is just a starting
price and I don't know what else the builder will charge for. But it's
leaving me to think that I overpaid for my townhome even though what I
paid was good at the time. Sigh! Now I'm worrying about what happens
when I go to sell in a few years, will I lose money on the deal now that
there are all kinds of newer townhomes in the neighborhood. Will I have
to spend money putting in improvements that I don't think are worth it
just so it can sell? Yes, I have been watching way too many of these
home shows on HGTV. But more to the point, I remember that one of my
friends spent almost a year trying to get her 2 year old townhome to
sell because no one wanted to buy it because there were new ones just
down the street.
But anyway...I also did a lot of laundry and some house cleaning. I,
however, did not actually put my laundry away. I just washed it. Yes,
I must put my laundry away at some point.
Went to the periodontist today and the gums look fine. Or rather, they
look fine for me. They haven't gotten worse, though I don't think
they've gotten any better. But it's been at least a year where I have
had good visits. Not that that means that I will get out of going to
the periodontist. I am stuck with that for life. Blah! Am still
waiting for the paperwork from the rheumatologist so that I can get more
bloodwork and tests done. So I called them and they will resend it. I
kind of want to find out what's going on. And I have an appointment
with the orthopedist about my shoulder on Monday. It wound up really
hurting last night during vball. I was doing ok until I went up to
block and when I threw my arms up, that just about did me in. I'm
hoping that I can just get by with some PT and some meds. I'm hoping to
avoid the whole surgery thing. Well, at least until after vball that
is.
Ok, I do need to get back to work. Time to read some func specs and
send some emails. Wheeeee!!!
