Weekend update...
Let's see what did I do this weekend? Well, I went into the office on my vacation day and spent way too much time there. Silly me. So I wound up vegging Friday night. It's nice to be a slug at my own house.
Woke up early on Saturday for the vball tournament. We, of course, had the early game, but it was at 10 am which isn't bad for the early game. Usually the early games are at 8:30. But man, it was really hot and sunny at 10. We wound up winning 2 out of 3 which was really nice since we usually lose in the first round. We even played really well. I think our team's play has really improved since Kim isn't playing any more. I had a pretty good game, but funny thing, I didn't get to swing. And I'm supposed to be the hitter. Instead I did lots of setting. The bad thing is that it meant we didn't play until 4:30. Ugh! Lots of sitting around. I didn't even drink much. Funny thing I've noticed is that beer (ok, cheap beer) doesn't taste good to me anymore. But it was really so hot that Powerade was the beverage of choice.
Threw a few rounds of darts and I am a wee bit out of practice I must say. Then just hung out and watched more vball.
Then it was time for us to play again. And of course we got stuck playing the team that won it all last season. We played them pretty well, were very close to winning. I think if we had gone to 25 we could have taken the game. Once again, I didn't get to swing any. But had some blocks and attempted blocks and once again, more setting. Even though we didn't win, I thought we played pretty well. It just sucked that we had to play Rodney's Folly since they were so tired when they played Hit the Deck for the Wed. night finals, Hit the Deck won. And we had beaten Hit the Deck 3 times during the season. Sigh! Oh well, I'll be around all next season so we will see how we do.
Hung out for free play for a bit. And wound up giving Darrell a ride home. He asked me about Greg, had I heard from him, etc. He told me that it wasn't my fault and that it's Greg's loss. Considering Darrell and my history, that's kind of sweet of him to say. He wants me to wind up with someone and be happy. I chose to refrain from commenting on his upcoming marriage which I'm thinking may not be that happy...
News on Dad is not good. He's totally unresponsive now, it probably won't be long. I probably won't be going to Darrell's wedding either. Sigh...Funny how many people from volleyball have expressed their concern, support and told me that my family is in their thoughts and prayers. That's really touched me.
