I only post to bitch about the stupidity of American TV networks

The increasing stupidity in fact.

Point Pleasant canceled. The question - why?

Ratings were around 4 million viewers an episode, which granted isnt a lot.

But compare it to Buffy, which got about the same number. That was a massive cult hit. 7 seasons. A spinoff with 5 seasons. A fanbase that put up one hell of an effort to save Angel. A fanbase still rallying for TV movies. A fanbase that follows every move of the actors, actresses, writers and directors that were a part of the show.

The problem with network TV is that shows dont get a chance anymore. PP started off kind of slow, I admit that. The only reason I still watched it is because I knew Marti could do dark and do it well (See: Buffy season 6). That and I tend to give shows that have an interesting concept 6 or so episodes to grab me. But it got better each episode, and from episode 5 and onwards it was a solid, dark, entertaining show that could do really well if given time, and a new concept for Fox which would be that little pesky thing called marketing.

The latest episode, and the last that will air in America (The UK get the rest of the season, thankfully, but I want another season damnit), was the best yet. Do the people pulling the plugs on these shows even bother to watch? Or do they just decide that a figure which was good enough 5 years ago isnt giving their greedy little bosses enough money.

The character of Boyd is probably the most interesting character that has been on any show, EVER, and I will be paying attention to what Grant Show does in the future. Having the "bad guy" in the main cast, and so giving them a lot of screen time, works really well. It made this show interesting, and it did the same for Tru Calling.

I still have hope in vain that another network will pick up the show, but I dont know if Marti Noxon is even offering it around. If not then I hope she sticks with this kind of show for her next project.

Hey, now heres an idea - same show, different name. Its not like anyone at Fox would notice.
