So I have a bit to catch up on... its been well over a month since my last post so I figure its time for a recap mostly to just catch everyone up on what's going on, to save sanity sake I have decided to cut everything down to bite size pieces because of all the stuff I have to talk about, some will probably be shorter than other some longer but either click on a part you want to read or read the whole thing if you must.
ACEN and ACEN Pictures
Acen was a blast this year aside from small technical difficulties such as a mess up on the room type which went from what we thought was a double became a king size room, hence two beds became one bed for 3 people plus lots of floor space, which was kind of rough on the back, but all in all it was a good convention, got to see a few old friends (such as
zackthesnack82 and
sailorgaia and her sisters, Rachel and a few others from school) which is always good.
I made some good trail mix to take with, and some awesome home made power bars that honestly put every other store bought power bar really look like apples and Chinese newspaper, that and most would never guess they were made with tofu which got me a few glomps from some new friends.
jedimeg16 made out like a bandit, as she took a few soot sprites to sell via a friend in the artist ally, the little things sold out by the end of the weekend. As for myself I enjoyed going in costume for the better part of saturday, only downfall of my costume is that it became hard to breath through and very hot after a few hours, mostly because of my mask.
As for swag I got some new anime DVDs, some new awesome shirts
one from
3 Panel Soul and this years acen 2009 shirt, a new cookbook, and a few pieces of fun small toys (like a back up for my DS stylus).
I got to enjoy my usual acen stuff, like hell and a bit of madness, and we got to see the
3 Panel Soul panel which I loved quite a bit.
as for pictures here you go
Acen 2009 Photos (posted via megaupload its about a 250 megabyte file so give it time) download at your leisure, bonus points if you can find me!
Work related matters
Work has been nothing much more than work, still lots of people telling me stuff I don't want to hear, but this seems to be the staple.
No real major winners to write home about, but I have had too many people telling me about using their one use diabetic supplies more than should be ever recommended. I have also had a few people come through that honestly I am almost afraid these people could OD if they aren't more careful with their meds. I feel bad for them, but there seems to be little that I can do to help the problem, other than make sure they aren't getting their meds super early or aren't getting more too many different controlled and easily abused meds.
There has been a bit of drama, and after a few too many problems (which I won't go into detail about here) we lost one of my coworkers, which for a few of my coworkers has been long coming, but for me I am still on the fence, there should have been more done sooner as opposed to later for this coworker in my book, but part of that was on her part not on mine.
A side effect of this is that the loss of this coworker has also meant her hours became available, so those have been cannibalized for the greater good of my coworkers and myself, I am now up to a 36 to 37 hour work week as opposed to a 32-ish hour work week, my Mondays though keep getting played with and are now a 10 hour day... which will suck, but I still have my Sundays and Tuesdays free, which works out very well for me. The rest of my days have been slowly adjusted for the change in hours, some have gone to full shifts from about 6-7 hours, although my Thursdays are still 4 to 9 which is still pushing the line of whether or not it is worth my time to drive in, work and then come home.
Home Related Matters
In home related and my own health related news I have again begun to get my back and neck adjusted, right along with
jedimeg16 on Tuesday and Friday mornings with my chiropractor, who has shared with me a few good and new stories one of them with my brother and a few of his old soccer teammates causing trouble in my chiropractor's office (not the bad kind of trouble just the silly kind) and one with my father which I could completely see him doing. So with the new adjustments my back and neck are slowly starting to give me less pain and trouble from them on a daily basis. For those of you out there that don't know my spinal cord is curved at the base of my skull where my spine meets my skull, thus when its out of alignment I can have fluid collect at the top of my spine and then push my brain forward to the front of my skull, there by giving me a headache, for a while I was able to keep it at bay with tylenol but when it gets to the point where I need it everyday just to deal with the headache I know its time to get my spine adjusted again.
It sounds way worse than when I do my normal pops on a daily basis (which I know
andyguy82 and
lateniteramen have heard out of me in the morning hours) but man does it feel better afterwords, as a bonus my chiropractor is also using this neat massaging machine on my back, this thing basically pumps electricity from one pad to another but not enough to actually do any damage to a person, well unless you turn the dial all the way up then it causes really bad muscle spasms and contractions, essentially though this thing slowly massages and relaxes my back making it feel awesome, then I get my standard adjustment.
jedimeg16 and I have also begun to work out a little bit more each day, with the use of a new game for the WII (an Anniversary gift from
jedimeg16's parents) which is slowly kicking our asses but its good for us.
Our 2nd Anniversary
As of June 9th
jedimeg16 and I passed our second year anniversary, which was on a Tuesday so I already had the day off to enjoy it.
jedimeg16 and I started the day out with an adjustment at the chiropractor followed by lunch at Mitsuwa, then we went and saw
UP which if you haven't seen it yet there is a guarantee that the majority of you out there will cry, twice, well
jedimeg16 did anyway. After the movie we went around Woodfield Mall and then to TGIFridays for dinner.
A major upside to seeing both the movie and dinner was that the majority of it was already paid for thanks to some old gift cards
jedimeg16 dug up while cleaning, so in total we paid about 10 bucks for those two places.
Weddings / bachelor party /
yoric's wedding
The last few weekends for
jedimeg16 and I have been filled with Weddings and Wedding related things. First came my cousins wedding which was the shortest ceremony that I have been too yet, followed by the standard reception and stuff, after a while though we were pretty much dead.
The following weekend we had
yoric and Amy's wedding, but first came
yoric's bachelor the night before the wedding, after getting a few things done in the morning and running about before said party, we had a night of watching odd but funny movies, we went a round with the gammers one and two, and I got through the first (of three apparently)movie of The Feast (which was a very odd but funny B horror movie). I had to leave the fun early as I had stuff to do much earlier than everyone else. After a short nights rest I got up to goto the first of two weddings that Saturday one for members of
jedimeg16's church which was a very good wedding, followed then by a short lunch break, then on to
yoric and Amy's wedding which I was standing up for along with my Brother (the best man in this), again another nice wedding and a good reception. After a long day it was nice to get out of the horrible shoes I had to wear, but thankfully my old duds got me by after the ceremony and pictures were done.
The Great (but short) Flooding of Baldwin
This past Friday we had some huge storms roll in, that caused flooding damn well everywhere around here, my walgreens got hit to the point where it came halfway up my shin in the parking lot and then this mess happened on our street, which we didn't think could get hit with this kind of flood damage.
Yes a few of those cars got stuck, thankfully the water only got on the street in front of the building next to ours and our parking lot was basically dry thanks to proper drainage around our spots. though a few people thought they could get through by speeding through it, sadly it doesn't, in total I saw about 4 cars actually make it through the water but 3 of them probably wound up with water damage, one got through only because it was a military grade hummer, which was bad ass watching it hop the curb with all that water. The fire truck that came out to inspect the street, had the fire fighters actually hop out and take pictures with there cell phones of the people caught in the flooded street.
The street was eventually cleared but only by the next morning. it is a little sad to see the fallen tree in the park, but we expect the city to come out and clean it up bright and early on Monday morning.
Trip to the 7 Mile Fair and Jewish gangs
Yesterday
jedimeg16 and I made a trip out to the 7 Mile Fair, which is a big flea market up in Wisconsin off of (no shit) 7 Mile road. On our way up there we stopped at a Wendy's for lunch, and I stopped to use the bathroom, while in said bathroom at Wendy's I saw some interesting graffiti which had the Star of David drawn on the wall along with a couple of other gang symbols (none of which I recognize), so my first thought turned to there being Jewish gang members holding out in the northern part of Waukegan... which seems very odd but very funny to me.
While at the 7 Mile Fair we did some browsing for odds and ends, I found a couple of old video games to replace a damaged copy of a game I had, and a new copy of Monster Rancher 3 for me to lose time in.
jedimeg16 got some movies, some new thread for one of her machines, a spiffy little basket to hold a current small project in, and some coins to help round out her state quarter binder that she has been working on.
A request for
sssage for getting some work done
I have a project that I would like to commission from
sssage, but I do NOT want to talk about it here for a trying to keep it secret reason, very hush hush kind of stuff.
This would be a project that I could do myself, but for most of it, it is outside of my skill set.
So
sssage if you could get ahold of me either via email (take my lj name and add @gmail.com and you have my email address) or contact me on my cell phone (Tuesdays are good days as I am not working) Thanks!
The plan for Bristol
So this year
jedimeg16 and I are planning our big trip out to
Bristol as early as we can, I am trying to set a date of the weekend of August 1st to 2nd. So thats plenty far in advance notice to have some people come out and join us for a carpooled trip up there, and if people need to spend the weekend here we have plenty of floor space and a spare couch and bed to use.
I would like to hear from some of you people out there that I haven't heard or spoken too that much and find out if you want to join us on this run to Bristol, heck tickets are cheaper if you buy them early, and from what I understand if you buy them early they are good all summer long until you use them. So drop me a line, leave me a message here or get ahold of me if you want to join on this endeavor.
Yeah thats about all the major important stuff I want to talk about, as for the rest of it I have pretty much been playing a lot of video games and sitting around, I really need to start gaming again, as I am really starting to miss it... so much so....
