Stuff I saw/heard in public transit this week.

I like to commute. I like how you can dry your hair when you're riding a trike, or that you can sing your heart out without being embarrassed because the motor's too damn noisy. I like the long walk involved when you need to get to another bus or jeep. I like to make a stop to buy some street food or fresh and cheep buko juice along the sidewalk. I especially like how you... just see things. I think it's interesting to (discreetly) study how other people act inside the train. I like to watch the stuff that go on outside, too. I don't really like to commute midday, but I think: I will miss that sunlight someday, and I'm thankful that I get to sweat in this heat.

I just want to share a few things I picked up while commuting this week:
  • LRT1, departing from Buendia Station: "Nakapunta akong New York, nakapunta akong Washington... tuloy tuloy yung biyahe, hindi ako masyado nakatulog. Naku, maganda doon, maganda talaga doon! Kung pera hanap mo, sige, trabaho ka lang doon. Pero nung ako yung nandoon, malungkot ako. Nawalan ako ng motivation ba. Kasi pag nandoon ka, tao na hahanapin mo. Hahanapin mo mga kaibigan mo, pamilya mo... Kaya umuwi na lang ako dito."
  • Sucat Jeep: "Alam mo bang binabayaran sila ng mga kandidato? Tig-Php1000 to 1500 isa. Pwede na no? Ako kakagatin ko yun! Mas gusto ko pa dun sa pera. Pare parehas lang naman silang lahat, di bale na kung sino yung nanalo." (By the way, this was in Parañaque, so yeah. Parañaque candidates pay people to vote for them. I'm sure a lot of other candidates do so, too)
  • Lawton-bound FX, somewhere in Kabihasnan: A kid stepped inside the FX and attempted to solicit money from us, as his house burned down in Las Piñas. The driver made him go out of the FX. "Oh eto, 10 pesos. Wag ka dito humingi ng pera. Sa bus ka na lang, maliit itong sasakyan." Kid pleads, but driver was adamant and stopped the FX by the road, so the kid goes down. "Balik ka na sa amo mo!" He shouted as the kid shuts the door.
  • Lawton-bound FX, somewhere along Airport road: People inside a jeep were looking at a fellow passenger, who seemed to be arguing with the jeepney driver. I see them yelling, but I can't hear them from inside the FX.
  • Ayala-bound UV Express, Skyway: Lady in corporate attire with her face smooshed against the window. She must be really tired.
  • Taxi, south superhighway, midnight: Sleep. Taxi meter. Passing lights. I'm looking at the world through squinty eyes. Tomorrow is another day. Must not forget receipts.
Also, have you seen the Murphy jeep in Cubao? :D I'm so proud whenever I see it, haha! I should ride it one time.
