I had a day off and so did Dennis so we went on a short road trip to the Southern Highlands. Having not been to any Scottish highlands I can't compare, but these were up a way from Sydney - you notice you're on a plateau after your ears pop a little. Anyway, we went to Bowral first, home of Donald Bradman for awhile. I don't care too much for cricket but the oval where he scored 115 runs in high school has a fence all painted white and a little grandstand and the sky over it was blue and clear making the grass green. Bowral also had about 15 bakeries and cake shops and three embroidery and craft shops. I restrained myself from buying anything except a fifty cent back issue of a quilting magazine for my sister. Yay for the cheap. Oh and we did have lunch in a funny place called Elephant Boy, owned for almost 20 years by an awesome woman and her husband, said woman wearing jodhpurs and a black gauze blouse, tall flat buckled boots, horn-rimmed glasses and red lipstick. They make many Indian curry sauces and serve them with rice but also on lasagne (was not game for this).
So it was really nice to have a day off, and a whole weekend ahead. I hope you all have a lovely one.
